I would like to wish my readers a good year, a year of health and peace, for you and your loved ones.

The fulfillment of some of our wishes for the coming year depends not on us but rather on others who are outside of Israel:

  • Stability for the world economy and the US economy in particular. The American Administration has understood at the eleventh hour that only vigorous government intervention can halt the destruction wrought by the unrestrained greed of large private corporations.
  • That the democratic countries stand together against the regime of the Ayatollahs in Teheran. A regime whose fascist and anti-Semitic character was again exposed this week in the UN speech of the President of Iran. If these countries impose genuine economic sanctions, if they cease to ingratiate themselves to Iran and court its favor, the need will diminish for a military action to prevent Teheran's Islamist zealots from acquiring nuclear weapons.
  • A successful international effort to halt global warming. Quick results are not to be expected, as this is a lengthy battle that was begun late. However if this goal is seriously pursued by the industrialized countries, there is a chance of saving the planet from destructive and irreversible changes.

There are other wishes whose fulfillment depends crucially not on the goodwill but rather the determination of the soon-to-form government, and on the political courage of its ministers.

  • Ending the dismantling of the Israeli welfare state, showing governmental responsibility towards the citizens and assuring their personal safety, and returning the rule of law to the Israeli street - all these resolutions are within the power of the government to make.
  • Advancing negotiations with the Palestinians, and reaching a framework agreement with them as soon as possible. This is an attainable objective. It will require the political resolve to ignore the threats of Shas, to draw upon the majority that now exists in the Knesset for such an agreement, and to risk going to elections, the subject of which will be choosing between a two-state solution and the outcome of a single bi-national state.
  • Changing the reality in Gaza - military, political and economic. Not an accommodation with the regime of Hamas but a vanquishing of it.
  • Continuing the process of building up the IDF following the 2nd Lebanon War, and providing the IDF with all necessary means, training and technologies to assure decisive victory in the next round.

This year, exactly four months ago, I founded "Israel Hazaka" - a party whose concern is to guarantee a better and safer future for Israel and its residents. After Rosh Hashana we shall present the Party Platform and begin registration of members, since the necessary legal steps for party formation have been completed. I thank the hundreds of individuals who have joined so far for their well-wishes and their active involvement as founders of "Israel Hazaka". Together we shall work and shall succeed - to bring good years to the people of Israel.

Israel has as much to gain from an agreement with "Palestinians" as a turkey has to gain from Thanksgiving. It is not surprising that Sneh puts this near the top of his priorities. The insistence of the his Labour Party on pursuing phony peace treaties at any cost to Israel is a major reason Labour is in a free fall. After the disaster of Oslo, the disaster of "Disengagement" (which brought thousands of rockets on formerly peaceful Sderot and Ashkelon), the disastrous release and arming of terrorists... Israelis have come to realize that Sneh's vaunted "peace process" is a total fraud.

Dr. Sneh is a first-rate individual with excellent credentials. He is, though, a novice in political manouvers. He will assemble maybe hundreds and then fizzle out. Israeli politics are a SNEH that consumes all those with good intentions

Ephraim shalom. To make peace, or any agreement with the Palestinians, there must be unified leadership on the part of the Palestinians. Even in democratic Israel, it is not easy to make hard, unpopular decisions. If a deal is struck with Fatah, Hamas will not honor it. The same goes in reverse. Israel must concentrate on strengthening itself internally, so when the time comes for war or peace, it will always have the advantage. Israel cannot dictate the time needed for the Arab world to mature enough to make a real peace, and it is foolish and arrogant try. Mandate first, peace later.

Looks like the last clean person in the leadership Let us see if the ships (Israeli voters) will go as usuall and vote for the bad and the criminals again

I'm interested in your resolutions, MK Sneh. But I'm more interested to know what kind of peace plan you have in mind, which do you favour: The Roadmap, the Clinton Parameters, the Arab Initiative, the Benny Elon Plan, etc?

deceive , mislead , delude , beguile mean to lead astray or frustrate usually by underhandedness. deceive implies imposing a false idea or belief that causes ignorance, bewilderment, or helplessness . mislead implies a leading astray that may or may not be intentional . delude implies deceiving so thoroughly as to obscure the truth . beguile stresses the use of charm and persuasion in deceiving . GOD Bless AMERICA! Christians need you!

Brian Sandridge CT, USA: If America won't even establish a naval blockade on Iran, and do all the other things mentioned above like economic boycott by the Anglosphere with maybe EU support, why would anyone believe that the US would retaliate with a nuclear strike on Iran. What if Russia places an "umbrella" around Iran? Will the US trade say Seattle for Tel Aviv? No, Israel better recall that only the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has brought them like Wings of the Eagle back to the land promised their ancestors. Do not lean on weak reeds!
Daniel Gritsky, London: What's interesting is that americans tend to view guns and weapons differently than non-americans do. For instance, if you check out http://www.thegunpoll.com you can see a survey that clearly shows americans want to be in control of weapons much differently than internationals do. Pretty interesting
Lars, Mad City, USA: This is a joke, right? You can't possibly believe that the United States, the UN, or ANY other country is going to prevent Iran from getting their bomb? If it isn't already in the protective shelter, it sure will be. Dr. Sneh, you are correct that the powers in the United States, occupied as they are with a finanacial crisis, NEVER intended to do anything but talk about Iran and a Nuke. It is, as it always has been "an Isreali problem"...if not now, it will be. The UN and Europe won't lift a finger either. Peaceful men like you shall one day know that "talk" is only good for tea parties.
