"Why J" ? you ask.  "Why not A or M or R ?"

A few places and people's names comes to mind..so let's go.

I gotta start somewhere !
________________________________________________

Jaffa...more than 4000 years old, and I have already walked about 4000 kms in and around the fleamarkets where many stores sell "just everything" and often the owners sit at the entrance (and some are asleep,) and walked at the Port and the parks and the promenades and the narrow streets and by the landmark Clocktower, and into a Morroccan restaurant where about 50 older men seated at small tables (for 4), are playing cards and talking and keeping score in a cloud of smoke from the many items being smoked, while the television blares music and songs...and bakeries and antique shops and fancy new boutiques and clothing stores and hairdressers and more, and more.

And I will return again and again in every season.

                                       ---------------------

Jerusalem more than 3000 years old, and need I say more? I walked, and scooted in and around, more than 3000 miles, and  still may need 3000 (more) visits to really see something...and the renovations continue and new roadworks everywhere..(sometimes it seems that yesterdays street-map is useless today), and lately, whenever I get to Jerusalem, whether on my scooter OR in the rental car, I have become an expert at getting lost. Several drivers who gave me directions also didn't know!!

A couple of very nice drivers told me "to follow them" and took me right to the place(s) I asked about.

                                                            --------------------------------------

Jean-Pierre - an incredible fellow who I met while I was scooting in the Arava Desert near Ein Gedi and Masada, and he was on his bicycle, cycling from the Northern border to Eilat, after having cycled through Europe to arrive in Israel.

An incredible guy; thin like a broom handle and tough, and his bicycle was loaded with everything he needs, and he spoke no English and no Hebrew, and I did not speak French, or the other languages he speaks...But we communicated on the side of the road in the desert at the Dead Sea... and on and on  he goes...and on 'n on I go.

                                                  -----------------------------

Jordan River...and the bridges. I made a special mission to find and walk across every bridge that the River Jordan flows under...and I found them all..and recently I re-visited. Some of the very old  bridges have been replaced with modern bridges and some old ones remain as attractions.

A big thank-you to Jacky who gave me stories about some bridges, especially the story about the "Aunties bridge", that was washed away and never repaired or replaced.
                                                                              -----------------------------------------

Jacobs Well- the original well and tree at Be'er Sheva where in biblical times, many interesting stories were told...

                                                                              --------------------------------

Jesus Boat at kibbutz Ginossar at Sea of Galilee (Kinneret)

                                                                             ---------------------------------

And I guess will be a few more J's for future visits. I hope you enjoyed this J...with me, and feel free to email me louisdrinkingt@013.net

Dear Louis, Of the 6 scooters you have with you at the moment, which one do you use the most? Lets say you are climbing Mt Tabor or going to Mt. Hermon which one do you prefer? The red or the white? Have you got any more problems lately with car drivers on cellphones, dead tail light, turning without signaling, horns blaring etc. Anyhoo... Yehi ratzon milfanekha, Adonai Elohai, shetolikheini l’shalom vetatzideini l’shalom vetatzileini mikol sakanah bederekh. Vetishlach b’rachah bema’asei yadai utvieini v’shalom el beiti. Ari - Jakarta. First, I thank you for the travellers prayer. No, I dont have 6 scooters ..I have only one and it is my eighth scooter. I now have a Keeway Hurricane 90cc. (red and black) which is the same body as the Keeway Hurricane 50cc..only has bigger wheels, and is much better for climbing the mountain passes when I travel in the mountain areas. And yes, the bad drivers will continue for ever...I guess. Thanks for finding me and stay in touch. Lou.

Dear Lou, remember the toll road from Jakarta to Cikampek that I told you was such in disrepair and shabby condition. A friend of the family lost his life on that road on Feb18. Col. Pasaribu (TNIAD) died instantly when his Honda sedan spun and got hit by a bus from behind.

Louis the scooterer: Reply to Dusty, Tennessee #20. It was a pleasure teaching you some Hebrew words via emails. Someone slipped up and placed only 3 pics instead of 10.. in this farewell story..the other 7 also showed places and different clothes for different weather. Todah ve lehitra'ot. Lou.
Louis the scooterer: #19 Reply to Dr. Hannah Joy, Jerusalem. Please dont miss me!... I hope you will "hit" me at other places..and wave to me and stop me when you see me. Thanks for following. Lou.
LOUIS THE SCOOTERER FROM NETANYA: Reply to #18 Sam Blumenstein...Lets remember that I met you and OZ motorcyclists as a direct result from JPost story..so they have done many good valuable "things". If they find it necessary for me to move along ?..maybe they steer me to something better ??..and I say again..I will make a U-TURN if its meant to be. Also dont forget that on your future visit we should drive around in a rented car during the rain season, and I can show you what you have not yet seen. Thanks and of course we will stay in touch. Lou.
