Rosner readers should know by now that trusting J Street polls is quite problematic (Take a look here, here and here). What they might not know is this (courtesy of Noah Pollak):

J Street's polls have always been conducted by Jim Gerstein... J Street says on its polling pages, "Survey analysis from Jim Gerstein, Principal at Gerstein | Agne, the firm that commissioned the poll."... But Jim Gerstein is not simply a principal at the firm that conducts polls for J Street. He was J Street's vice president...You'd never know this from J Street's staff page or the voluptuous promotion that accompanies the release of a J Street poll. You wouldn't know it from all the mentions of Gerstein on J Street's website, in which he is always portrayed as an independent actor. In order to know that he was J Street's founding vice president, you'd have to look at J Street's 990 IRS form.

So J Street not only commissions polls - it writes the questions, conducts them, analyzes the results, and then carries out promotional campaigns with the findings. If you were wondering how it was possible that J Street could repeatedly produce "polling data" that almost perfectly complements the group's political agenda, now we have one important clue.

You want to know about J-Street - FOLLOW THE MONEY. Who finances J-Street? As far as their polls go, they all belong in the garbage, they're only propaganda tools, something the Left has always done here in Israel as well. The media helps this along by giving a lot of space to these spurious polls as well as statements by prominent looney-leftists who represent no one. For the most part, J-Street is composed of people who's only connexion to Judaism & the Jewish community is in Israel-bashing. Many are Israeli Leftists who couldn't sell their BS in Israel.

Pollsters are not neutral opinion reporters and never are. They have always been slanted opinion formers, and partners to their biased fact twisters, the media.Be they Gallup or JStreet, the published figures are always turned into supporters of their own interests.

you're a great journalist

J Street is another entity that Mr. Sorros uses to advance his agenda for Israel. The problem is these entities are indiscriminate in how they impact Israel. He seems to have good motives but his methods are questionable to say the least. I think Israel needs pluralism but not by advancing palestinian arab supremacy. Its like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

'the fish stinks from the head-j street is anti-zionist..AIPAC poll more likely accurate because zionists cannot afford to be wrong and their side is far more closely scrutinized than left which can and does regularily say anything regardless of facts-- much like some religious fanatics

Here perhaps is a better Poll in the N.Y.Post http://www.nypost.com/seven/08072009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/where_bam_breaks_with_jewish_dems_183347.htm?page=0

Why you can't trust JStreet at all...two words...Avram Burg.

Obama only listens to those people who agree with him. In his meeting with American Jewish leaders, he had J Street there & not the ZOA. The other leaders were afraid to tell Obama how outraged American Jews are & Obama only listen & heard the J Street agreeing with him that "the problem is Israeli settlements." The leaders of the major American Jewish Organizations need to start acting like leaders and listen to the American Jewish people & very strongly (not politically correct terms like concerned) inform Obama that we are outraged by his treatment of Israel & by his policies toward Israel.
9  |  Sally - U.S.A., Sunday Aug 09, 2009
I think your guess NJDC's David Harris who said he was not "concern" about Obama & Israel should bother to read the readers' comments. I never thought that I would live to see the day that Eugene McCarthy would vote for Ronald Reagan, but if Mr. Harris & other American Jewish leaders do not step up to the plate, the defeat of Carter & Bush 41 will pale in comparison. When Mr. Harris parsed out what he wished to see, he gave credence to J Street's tactics. At some point & time reality overtakes propaganda.

This shouldn't come as any suprise.J street, the pro peace pro palestinian group has no interest in Israel's security. How many people actually know that Robert Malley is on the advisory council of J street?
11  |  Americans in Europe back Israel 100%, Sunday Aug 09, 2009
A poll of Americans in Europe shows that 100% support Israeli sovereignty over all of Jerusalem and its outlying village. The results of the poll are 100% certain, there is not even a fudge factor. (Oh, I forgot to say: I polled only myself - I was the only one around).

I have my own poll. I take a very conservative local paper for the sports section. When I saw they had an article posted by Helen Thomas today on the pressure needed on Israel I was shocked. This is a first. Helen Thomas isn't a regular in our paper. I think many in the U.S. who feel very strongly for Israel think this time she has gone too far. This is a first for my local paper.
13  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Sunday Aug 09, 2009
#13. I'm sure its not a surprise to you, but Helen Thomas is of Lebanese descent. August 4th, Helen Thomas celebrated her same day birthday with Barak Obama, and he sang "Happy Birthday" to her. It wouldn't surprise me if the bully pulpit at the White House pressured your paper into including Thomas' column. I understand the administrtion is working on a "fairness doctrice" to silence conservative voices, and support backrupt forums like Air America.

Is there an online list of major donors? I keep hearing about Soros, but usually those posts are accompanied by comments that undermine the poster's credibility. Does J Street get funds from the US or other State Departments? From big anti-Israel cats? Just curious where the money is coming from. It'd be great if there was some kind of public campaign to counter these guys. Will any Jewish orgs step up? Have you seen their front page campaign? Horrible! Can't believe they're treated on same level by White House as more or less legitimate representatives of the community.

Next step is to analyze how many members J Street actually has.FOLLOWING THIS REVELATION MY GUESS IS MUCH.MUCH LESS THAN THEY STATE.
16  |  DavidM USA, Monday Aug 10, 2009
J Street has no support in the United States. It has only a handful of members, all hard core far left 1960s people. Because J Street is anti-Israel it gets lots of attention from the news media. J Street will say and do anything to get attention and funding. They know that if they are anti-Israel they will be beneficiaries of an adoring anti-Israel media. It is no surprise that J Street's polling is biased.

First off, about Helen Thomas. Helen Thomas is a TRAITOR. Yes, not only to the United States of America, but more so to the Christian population of Lebanon, her ancestral home, which has been brutalized by the same Syrian thugs she puts her alleigance to. She'll spout hate of Israel because she is one fat, ugly, ignorant ass. Never mind the entire family of Dany Chamoun, even children butchered by Assad's thugs, this pig I'll blame Israel. Yep, even Arab Christians have their lousy traitors. And the Jews unfortunately have the N - oops Soros-paid Kapos of J Street who lie through their teeth.
18  |  Amnon, the Great AMERICAN Southwest, Monday Aug 10, 2009
The NJDC also has a pollster on its staff who was recently quoted repeating the same bs about Jews still overwhelmingly favoring Obie. They can't get an independent pollster to save their life and neither can the Kapo clowns of Judenrat Strasse.Their ranks are filled with the most hateful self-deniers in History, and I'm honestly surprised that Normie Finkelstein and Howard "I regret bombing N" Zinn are not joining Soros and Ben-Ami, who was a nothing before J Street and is even more of a Nothing new. Just because Jerry Wright's chimp loves him does not give him any credibility with me.

Here is a real poll yahoo for some reason doesn't link use Google it contradicts JStreet pretty much http://www.nypost.com/seven/08072009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/where_bam_breaks_with_jewish_dems_183347.htm

A far more appropriate title for this thread would be, why NO poll can be trusted coming from a jewish source.

Well this may be the last post from this side a reality check was sent thank you,
22  |  Stan Racansky, Canada, Tuesday Aug 11, 2009
I don't know my friend, I have counted 4 Nobel price winners on the board of Jstreet. I would trust their opinion more then yours. It's looks to me more like the old corrupted guard is scared of new people. I believe the gravy train is over for those who are still not in prison. The Jewish people have new set of leaders who are intelligent, compassionate and not self-serving and move us, Jews into 21st Century, with our heads up and proud.
23  |  Shalom Freedman Jerusalem Israel, Tuesday Aug 11, 2009
JStreet as I understand it is an American Jewish organization which works against the interests of the people and state of Israel. They of course believe they are doing otherwise. They either willfully ignore or have a naive view of the 'other side'. That said I believe wild name- calling , insulting abusive talk does not help. Those who deeply care about the survival and well- being of Israel do not serve that purpose by showing themselves to be hate-filled fanatics. Cool it friends. Make your points with wisdom and humor.
24  |  Chaim - Israel, Tuesday Aug 11, 2009
You can't trust J Street polls for the same reason virtually every citizen of the former U.S.S.R. knew they couldn't trust Pravda, the Communist newspaper. J Street publishes nothing but ridiculous, self serving pape that has absolutely no connection with the truth.
25  |  Sally - U.S.A., Tuesday Aug 11, 2009
I believe it is important for American Jews to write & thank their senators who signed Bayh-Risch Letter to President Obama. (see article in Jpost 8/11/09). Given the wind in the air of those who wish to castigate Israel & blame settlements for no peace, it takes an enormous amount of courage for these senators to sign such a letter. Also, #10, Robert Malley wrote an op-ed piece today in the NY Times. In it, inter alia, he compares Netanyahu with Hamas. Maybe it was written to counter the Bayh-Risch letter since J Street wanted settlements in the letter & the senators would not let that in.
26  |  N.Levy, Israel, Wednesday Aug 12, 2009
J-streeters are not only traitors to the State of Israel, but also to the Jewish People. They are today's version of the kapos.
27  |  Jae, USA, Wednesday Aug 12, 2009
J-street are the HELLENISTIC Jews who would rather curry favor with the greek kings and roman emperors than have their people have a strong and defensible land. They root for Obama by shaping the views toward Israel. These lunes want israel 8 miles wide, which is what it would be without JEWdea (the original name for the so-called"west bank"), which they want to give to the arabs for the 25th arab country and the 2nd "palestinian " state (Jordan is palestine, demographicaly -80%- and geographically- 78%) They are traitors, and no little to nothing about Jewish history and religion.
28  |  Jae USA, Wednesday Aug 12, 2009
Stan racansky- can you please recant (sky) that statement? J street helps us hold our head high and proud?" what planet are you on? Israel, 8 miles wide, is safe? Thats what J street wants. Try opening your mind to your peoples 4000 year history of backstabbing itself. from hellenistic jews vs the maccabbbees to the likes of j street soros et al.. Good grief man!

Nr. 12 has it right. The USA government will support until Israel has to take action to defend itself. Then they will run like turkeys.

The Israel Factor, Sep. 2009: Obama is rapidly losing favor with panel of Israeli experts

Recent Comments

Arthur, Miami-Florida: Go Rudy!! It sounds like American Jews are finally waking up to the disaster that is Obama and his ultra-left wing cohorts. What kind of an American president appoints a self-proclaimed communist to his government? How about the Mao lovers? He promised to keep Jerusalem united (for 24 hrs.) Runs around the world hugging dictators (Hugo Chavez) bowing before Muslim Kings (Saudi) and Japanese Emperors all while apologizing for American greatness. Then he turns around and brings KSM to NYC for a trial that will focus on the evils of the Bush Administration. What kind of nonesense is this?
Joe the Plumber - Canton, Ohio: Joseph Baltimore: Please note - one has the freedom to go to a private religious institution and pray all day to one's heart content instead of studying Reading ,Writing and Arithmetic along with evolution. We are paying public taxes to educate, not indoctrinate. Besides, everyone has the right to pray in a public school, and to my understanding , praying is between the individual and G-d, and in that manner, he or she may do so - quietly , after the pledge . We need not turn public schools into religious tent rallies inundated by morons that "speak in tongues". Period! Grow up!
