Election 2009: Rosner's Poll Trend To pass the time during Clinton's hearing, I'm reading (on Jeffrey Goldberg's must-see blog) an interesting interview with Mark Bowden, author of Black Hawk Down. The question: Israel killed 800 people in Gaza - the US have killed about the same number when it was trying to save its men in Mogadishu, Somalia. Does this mean that the US is guilty in this case of war crime? Here's Bowden: "I believe that culpability for these casualties is very much with Hamas. Take this leader, Nizar Rayyan, who was killed with many of his children. He knew he was a target. If I knew that I was a target, I sure as hell wouldn't have my children near me. It's a horrible and cynical choice he made. But if your enemy is a sophisticated manipulator of public opinion, then this is one of the many downsides of choosing to go to war. Israel knows that."

I was directly involved with this one. I was working intelligence at the time. The unit involved was the 3rd battalion of the 75th Rangers. I served with this unit in Viet Nam. When I caught wind of what was going on I went to work. Rapidly found out that Aideed's wife was living in Canada. Put the word out that if our people were not released I was going to personally eliminate his family. Wallah, they were all cut loose.
Was this legal ? Who gives a rats ass, my little brothers went free !

The real war crime was Clinton and Powell not allowing the military afterward to nuke the place off of the map. Tom I iwsh you would have capped the bitch and his spawn of satan offspring

His son was serving in our own Marine Corps as an interpreter. All I was interested in at the time was gaining the release of the captured 75th, 3rd battalion. Once they were cut loose I was out of the situation. Don't know where his wife is living now but at the time she was in Ontario. Colby was my boss but I was also free to carry out any ops I deemed in the best interest of this country. I have gone rogue since Colby was murdered. Hopefully I will be living in international waters on a 60 ft catamaran sailboat off the coast of S America within 2 years.
