Rosner's Domain: Samantha Power "loves Israel"Posted by SHMUEL ROSNER
Comments: 31 If you trust Matry Peretz' judgment, you'd not be one of those thinking Samantha Power is an enemy of Israel's. I wrote about - and quoted - Power two days ago. I will now quote Peretz, writing about Power: She is Peretz' friend, and Israel's - so he says: Samantha is a friend, a good friend, in fact. She has uttered some phrases about Israel that I did not like and that I thought were erroneous. We have quarreled over them. She reminds me, as I've told her and others, of Maud Gonne, the lover of W.B. Yeats and a fiery Irish nationalist. How can she not grasp deeply Jewish nationalism, its romance and its realities?

She may love us but she would clearly love us to be a smaller cuter little place the whole of which she could walk around on a day trip. She may be our friend but I find it hard to diferentiate her positions from those of our worst enemies. She has , among other things, accused us of GENOCIDE !!!.

Makes me want to cancel my subscription to the New Republic. Peretz has gone off the deep end.

Shmuel - I have no idea what Peretz means. Do you? Powers strikes me as a dangerous ditz, eager and willing to accuse and punish Israel but blind to the dangers of radical Islam. Has Powers said anything to show tha she understands the failure of western "peacekeeping" forces from Lebanon in preventing the re-armament of Hizballah? How about a plan for the western "peacekeeping" force she urges for the West Bank to identify and target organizers and propagandists of terror (incl. Hamas and PA). Finally, how much of her proposed aid to Palestinians will their leaders steal? 25, 50, 75%?

Watch this video from 2002
and note particularly the way she talks about "alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import" while advocating the US sending troops to protect the Palestinians against "massive human rights abuses". She does not love Israel and her attitude toward US Jews crosses the line.

Responding to Mr. Alayoub's comments. Mr. Alayoub, if you Gazans w ant water and food, then stop sending your Kassams across the border. We gave you Gaza, three years ago. Develop your own food and water supplies. We do not owe you anything. You crossed our border and captured Gilad Schalit. Return him alive, otherwise you can drink from the Mediterranean and eat the sand.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, "We know better what's best for Israel than the Israelis do." Right.

"...and the Jews in Israel lived happily ever after!"
And with that children, let me kiss you good night, sleep tight and if you are good girls, I may even take you to shul tomorrow!
Mwah.

We supporters of Israel will soon find out how the whole Obama team feels about Israel and the problems in the Middle East. At this time we must wait and see how hard the USA will push for peace. However, how can you have peace with the Palestinian terrorists who continue their terror by firing rockets into Israel proper! I hope the USA stays out of the fray and let Israel do what it needs to do. (and send gelt). The US has bigger problems in that area...we havent done too well in Iraq and Afghan either. Is Power Jewish? Just curious. Just Keep Noam Chomsky away from Obama...phooey!

From growing up around lots of Irish people, I can tell you, there are many Irish people who HATE JEWS AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALL JEWS WIPED OFF THE PLANET AND EXTERMINATED. AND SAMANTHA POWER IS ONE OF THEM. There are less educated Irish people who express these sentiments by joining the KKK or the Aryan Brotherhood, and there are somewhat more educated rich Irish people like Mary Robinson and Samantha Powers, who express their hatred more indirectly but because of their education and their powerful official positions they are far more dangerous than Aryan Brotherhood types.Thank the Church!

She may have called for the end of aid to Israel, she may have called for the imposition of a multinational force to "force" and "monitor" a "peace settlement" on Israel (which would crimp Israeli defense operations), she may vest untold confidence in the United Nations who have been so biased against Israel and have not fulfilled their responsibilities in Lebanon (and has betrayed Israel in the past). She may have castigated the New York Times for admitting there was no massacre at Jenin (a canard propagated by the same groups that Power supports).
She may have alluded darkly to groups in the US with financial power who are too influential in formulating American policy. She may have made derogatory comments about Israelis-as Israelis-in her recent book. She may have complained that criticism of Barack Obama came down to "what is good for the Jews."
But, nevertheless, according Peretz , "she truly, truly loves Israel and the people of Israel".
Uh-huh.

Don't trust someone who, had she stayed in Ireland rather than being brought to the US by her mother, at the age of 7, would for sure have been active in the 'military' side of the IRA. She's just another anti-semitic, Israel-hating Irish nationalist with a feeling of comradery towards other terrorists no matter whether they are more far Right (like the Nazis) or far Left (like cold-blooded killer Che Guevara)

Marty Peretz, you are suffering from WALDZHEIMER'S disease. Note the spelling - Waldzheimer's as in the Nazi Kurt Waldheim. I remember when you went after him, and rightfully so, full tilt and boogie.
Well, guess what, Martin? Samantha Power is not only just an Irish Nazi, she's a 'ho who hates Israel and wishes its Jewish population dead, not some half-baked do-goody two-shoes gal. If you can't get that, kindly shut up. The New Republic once stood for something; now, its just another mouthpiece for Chimp and his fellow Jew-baiters. Please board that cattle car, Marty, its waiting for you.
14 | Nelson Rodriguez, Saturday Dec 06, 2008
Samantha Power hates Israel, hates everything about Israel, and in her circle of friends they refer to
Israel as a country of "settler - colonialists, just like South Africa." Samantha Power wants to dismantle Israel and she does not care if some Jewish Americans are alienated , she will tell us that she is doing it "for our own good" and that it is "tough love" and similar platitudes, while Jews will be murdered wholesale, attacked witth rockets, suicide bombs, and the armies of Israels neighbors, that are a hairs breadth from being under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Peretz has definitely lost it. Maybe it's some age-related affliction, but he's not playing with a full deck anymore. Sad to see what's happening to The New Republic, one of the more (and only) sensible publications on the left.
Power is a dangerous loon. Have no illusions about this woman.

No, she is an Irishman

May I remind Mr.Peretz that Brandeis was, also, the first to recognize that children should not be expoited in regards to labor albeit in a minority opinion? When you say, "She has uttered some phrases about Israel that I did not like.....", it isn't a matter of " not liking" , or liking. She is talking about summarily usurping a sovereign, democratic nation's sovereignty. She is discussing our US Military invading the strongest ally in the world. She is jeopardizing the lives of 1M plus Jewish children and all Jews in the Diaspora as well. What does this woman, never married, nor having

Nos. 1 through 8: I am disappointed in you! If Marty Peretz says Samantha Power loves Israel it must be so -- he wouldn't lie just for political reasons. Well, she just made a few mistakes. Another one who made a few mistakes but really, really loved israel, was Yasser Arafat. That's what we call tough love. In fact, it's scary how many people love Israel just as much as Ms. Power (give or take a few mistakes, here and there) and it's not nice not to overlook their missteps. One doubt remains, however: how much does Mr. Peretz love Israel?

birthed a child, nor experienced discrimination of herself or her children in war,nor does she seem knowledgeable about the Arab Palestinians,or the terrorist creed,or the PLO Covenant with the goal of wiping Israel off the map,nor understand Israel is the frontline for all democracies and Western Civilization against the barbarism of the Islamofascists regardless of the faction threatening us, also.
She,of course,is not alone in this as Bush, etc.demonstrates.Her treatise on Genocide is only an objective topic, never having experienced a Genocide, personally.Given this she is to advise policy.

As a member of the US Armed Forces, i believe Israel has the right to defend herself, and i hope and pray that we will just let them do what they need to do, and keep supplying them with the necessary equipment to defend themselves. I also believe if/when Israel does go to war with Iran, we need to get involved, and btw the war in Iraq is going a lot better then, the people in the states think. Shalom

Power in danagerous. She now holds herself out as a foreign policy expert, but she is not. She has written a couple of books (the second book was not very good), but has no practical experience or formal training in foreign policy, other than as a journalist. She romaticizes the role the UN can play in international relations, and shares the view of many on the left that Israel is the source of most of the problems in the Middle East. I heard her speak in San Francisco last year, and she is no friend of Israel.

It is not in Israel's interests to allow an 'international' military force in a new state of Palestine. International forces don't appear from the heavens with an unbiased agenda and protect Israelis and Palestinians alike. The notion of 'international forces' helping to resolve conflicts is a myth (like the tooth fairy). In the end, they will be a 'gun to the head' of a Jewish Israel; only making the conflict worse.
26 | Lea, Europistan, Saturday Dec 06, 2008
Yeah, yeah, yeah, "We know better what's best for Israel than the Israelis do." Right.
German Jews, believing it would all be a short nightmare and things would soon change, demanded of concerned Jews of other nationalities to not interfere. It would make things worse.

In my former statement,I needed to edit a far too involved sentence. The point was with her lack of experience and understanding in the various areas of life and the Israeli_Arab situation I listed(seeCSG above), she is completely inept.Peretz eliminates himself from all discussion through this opinion of Powers. He no longer has credibility. What is at stake is so great we do not have time for anything, or anyone, who prevaricates about Israel 's existence .We know, who is who. What is what. How can anyone say she supports Israel? What she said is part of a plan revealed by Debka a few years ago.

Good for you liberal Democrats.. You llimousine liberal Jews, 77% of you who voted for Obama deserve what you got. When a true friend of Israel John McCain made it clear that he would not allow a second Holocoust you liberals rejected him. You got your just reward, Samantha Powers. So stop whining and start looking in the mirror. You should have known better but elected to put on your rosed colored glasses. Now it is time to elect a real leader, Bibi Netanyahu who will not become Obama's lap dog and will stand up to Powers and her ilk.

Martin Peretz was "blinded by the light of the anointed one," O, when he opted to alloy himself with the 'victorious' new Administration in Washington. By default, he laid down with anti-Israel fleas like Powers, former US Ambassador to Israel; Kurtzer and former Middle East negotiator, Amb. Dennis Ross. Powers is totally feckless with regard to Jihad War doctrine slaughtering her Darfurians- nominal bkack Muslims, who're considered Abeed-house slaves Al-Zawahrir's opinion of O. At least another Irsihman, American Army reserve major Stephen Coughlin, get s it. Powers doesn't.

And another observation about Ms. Powers and her alleged IRA PROVO wing 'leanings.' She has strayed far from the glory path of the late revered founder of the IRA, Michael Collins, who was an icon for the Irgun. I believe that former Likud Israeli PM Yitzhak Shamir carried the underground nom de guerre of "Mike" named for Collins., when he was part of the Lehi.
