Rosner's Domain: No Haass, just Ross, Ross and RossPosted by SHMUEL ROSNER
Comments: 8 Updated!!! Election 2009: Rosner's Poll Trend Both The Plank and The Cable report that yesterday's news about Richard Haass being the new Middle East peace envoy - not true. Steve Rosen also says the reporers was wrong. Here's the Washington Times: The incoming Obama administration has chosen former Middle East negotiator Dennis Ross to coordinate policy toward Iran and is unlikely to shift policy toward Israel in the near term, people familiar with the transition process said Wednesday. And Laura rozen: A State Department official who asked to remain anonymous responded to the report, "Dennis would be usurping a few positions at once: NEA A/S [Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs] (and PDAS, who deals with Iran), Policy Planning chief (one of his old positions), and would be jostling with P [under secretary of state for political affairs] on Iran -- and probably the new Elliott [Abrams] at NSC. Seems like a lot of cooks, and the Secretary et al would always get the benefit of Dennis's advice without having to create a new position for him with staffing, 7th floor accommodations -- and lots of top heavy confusion." Get the picture? Ross will be in charge. Of everything. Is this good news? The Israel Factor experts were not in favor of this idea. The experts of Harverd's Project MESH did. Our combined MESH-Factor list put Ross at the top, as the best qualified person to be the special peace envoy (if you don't know what I'm talking about read here).

i met ross recently during the surge which obama opposed and asked him if the statecraft he described in his book of that name could succeed if america suffered military defeat--his answer was that would be very difficult and the question was apt---as democrats go he is probably the best that can be expected--i assured him it would still be a rough neighborhood when he next returned and he seemed well aware of that-obviously,as a consevative, i prefer john bolton but would be willing to help ross and for free!

Whoever it is, they will have to understand what happens when religious extremists (Hamas) are in control. This video put together by a Palestinian Arab - offers some insight into the Hamas terrorist mentality amongst the Palestinians. Will Ross et al take this into account?
You decide.
I have.

Ross, only marginally better than his fellow self-hating buddies Miller, Kurtzer, Haass and Indyk. At least he admitted being burned by Arafat, burned enough that unlike Miller and Kurtzer, he opted not to seek a post in the incoming Bush administration, and I don't think Bush wanted him; Powell, patriot but otherwise pathetic guy he is, took in Miller and Haass until their buddy Arafat massacred Jews in Netanya on Passover 2002 - then all bets were off. Ross is still as culpable as the others for the failures of Oslo and the blood of thousands of Israelis on his - and their hands.

Nice that Dennis is back. Because as usual he will stay silent as his equally silent (in the face of Uncle Jeremiah Wright) new boss will chortle "F the Jews" (which he will)just like his old boss did, and he'll do nothing but make excuses - and pressure Israel when that happens.
Marginally better than his sidekicks, the odious Miller and the hypocrite Kurtzer, but not by much.

BIG BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE. Mid East envoy has got to be Dennis Ross. At a crucial time such as this you have got to have only the most experienced. Ross knows the area as well as anybody and has dealt with all the characters involved. At this crucial time expertise is the key. Ross and Hillary Clinton are a formidable team.

Dennis Ross is a disaster! It has been reported that he made the following statements in effect:
"Israel must give up the Golan Heights to Syria. Syria has been 'quiet' quietest border, etc., etc.
God forbid Israel should be pressured to sacrifice Har Golan. Syrian barbarians harbor hamas/hizbullah with arms supplies; they are in a state of war with Israel and demand UNCONDITIONAL...NO COMPROMISE 'RETURN' OF GOLAN. Israel's main water supply emanates from the Golan. For a piece of useless paper, Israel should sacrifice the Golan's vantage from above the Galilee for artillary tank fire!!
