Rosner's Domain: Is this the new Obama plan?Posted by SHMUEL ROSNER
Comments: 22 Follow
Rosner's Domain on Twitter!!! The unrelenting Laura Rozen had moved her shop from FP to the Politico. You can always count on her to break the news and beat all competition. For example: Via the BBC's media monitoring service, a Palestinian MP has told Al-Jazeera.net that Arab leaders are studying details of a written Obama plan for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. According to the MP, the plan, which has been shared with Arab leaders, would have Obama attend a special peace conference in Sharm el-Shekh Egypt at the end of the month. The alleged U.S. plan, as described by Palestinian MP Hasan Khurayshah to Al-Jazeera, "includes 10 key clauses." And Rozen will also make sure you get it right: UPDATE: "Fiction," said one administration official on condition of
anonymity of the details in the translated Al-Jazeera report below. Two
other Washington Middle East hands have also expressed skepticism.
"Nonsense," one said on condition of anonymity. "There is not and won't
be any ten point plan or other detailed proposals coming from the
admininistration. That's not how they have decided to play this." The rest of it is here.

The more a plan I see and read regarding the solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the more convincing it appear that this problem cannot be solved. I think solving this problem will require a redrawing of the geo-political map of the whole region. Arab-States must contribute more land for a viable Palestinian state. The land known today as Israel is definitely more than too small for Israelis and Palestinians.

The Obama speech in Cairo to the Muslim world was a bunch of empty, ambigous slogans. The Obama visit after the Cairo speech to a former European concentration camp was a token gesture towards the Jewish people. What can we expect from the Obama plan? Nothing new and nothing good for Israel. Obama is not a friend of Israel as Ronald Reagan and Geroge Bush were. The fact is that Israel can not give up Judea, Samaria, Golan and Jerusalem without commiting national suicide. Unfortunately the Obama plan is not much different from the Saudi Peace Plan. None of those plans are acceptable for Israel!

All the ''experts', assorted talking heads, pundits, & assorted useless politicians (chief among them Obama) are evading the real issue - Iran. There is no other real issue in the Middle-East or indeed the world, at the moment. Talking about anything else is a distraction. Obama's foreign policy has already failed on all fronts. Nothing can disguise the failure & this includes any more BS plans & re-starting the make-believe ''peace process'' - it's all meaningless crap when serious thought is given to the consequences of a nuclear-armed Iran. Military action is all we should talk about.

In all this I pity one side. Only one side I pity and I'm worried about. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!! Is Obama truly expressing your views or is something really sad happening to you?
How can a so called "friend" demand everything from a partner and nothing at all from enemies? Americans, wake up and tell Husaini that he is not speaking for you. Silence means consent. As for Israel, the Lord will always deliver His chosen people, no matter the strength or might of their enemy. He who fails to grasp that eternal reality must be living on a different planet. Shalom!!!

As a Christian and knowing the biblical parts showing that God promised the Land (all of it) to the people of Israel, I think all efforts to divide this land will lead to disaster.
Especial for Israel being surrounded by vast territories of Islam countries.
For them Israel (Al Quds) is the first prise. But Jews and Christians alike know that all Jerusalem is the eternal capital for the Jews in their modern nation.
Shalom from Holland

One thing you can say about Terry's blog is-he's right. Let's take a magic leap of fantasy for a moment. Obama has bedazzled the world with his acuity for the situation and seeing the total fairness of his visions, the Israelis and Palestinians fall all over themselves to be seen as the first to accept the peace agreements. Prosperity reigns in the new Palesinian state. There is 100% employment and every family has a home with two cars in the driveway. Meanwhile Iran has developed nuclear warheads, solid fuel delivery missle systems and the Ayatollah doesn't like what he sees. Will the Palestinians help Israel? Would it matter?

As much as I often agree with Terry, #3, the problem is far more basic. Just read the Koran, it is at the heart of evry Arab, and Iranian, pronouncement. Until such time that Islam changes its aspirations for global domination, until such time as Islam respects other beliefs, there is no hope for any so-called plan. Israel is really no more than a buffer against Islam.

The Plan is as follows.
Israel continues its illegal settlement activity.
The US condemns it the UN sanctions Israel the US does not veto it.
Boycotts and other anti apartheid type activities grow and spread.
Israel loses more support, it has its nose rubbed into the carpet until it learns how to behave.

there most likely isn`t a plan, there is an ideology that is being transformed into an actionable plan, this is most likely not going to please many ,if it were even partially intelligent it would be out there getting feedback. If the Israeli leadership has not been included in the process its most likely your going to get hosed,as time passes your hand is getting weaker even though you have majority of people`s support.(HUH)thats right i hope you engaged your brains when i implored you,for you guys butts are hanging in the balance,i`m serios as a heart attack not much sand left in hourglass

i hope obama's plans includes putting pressure on jordan to take back their straying people[the pallis] and also asking egypt to take the other half to live in the sinai.Israel cant take them in as there's no room, and if the lefties in Israel want to join them WELL!!!!

To be fair, this "plan" or whatever it is, is much closer the Israel position than the arab's, as it contains provisions demanded by Netanyahu (disarming areas of West Bank, israeli air control, no military alliances allowed) and even more, like "disbanding all palestinian factions" (I for sure would love to see HOW is it done), keeping the large settlements, no returning of refugees to Israel, and so on. That's why it doesn't have a chance to be accepted by the arabs, so there's no need to worry. In fact, is so crude that not even Obama's team could have made it.

6 Feldman, Surely you heard the one about 'enemy of my enemy"? Would you be expected to support someone who had tormented you, stole your land and murdered your offspring for decades. Why then would you expect less from the Palestinians you have tortured. Payback is bi*ch and must hang over your heads like the sword of Damocles.

Misdirection and rationing. That is all we can expect from the current occupant of the Oval Office. So, why should he be accorded such deference? Doing so would turn Jewishness on its head. For, isn't a learned child of uncertain parentage valued higher than an unlettered scion? The opposite would be the result if Agent Zero, aka BHO, gets his way.
Shalom from Western Canada.

#12. Nice to see you back. Why make peace. Looks like it would be a lost cause if everyone is a hate monger like you. Might as well stick with the status quo.

#6 Mike Feldman. Take a look at the comment re: an editorial in the L.A. Times at RubinReports. Even if someone believes in ''peace'' (which I certainly do not), Western policy today has left the realm of the rational, has entered the world of Salvadore Dali's surrealism.
#7 Dr Friedman. Indeed, without reference to Islam & it's true nature, how can anyone claim to understand the Middle-East?

MUST SAY...I feel for the honest "God Fearing" American hoodwinked by the "MOTHER OF ALL TRAITORS"..putting his muslim "heritage" before the GENUINE security and safety of Americans AND
...MUST SAY "GOD BLESS AMERICA"...MUST SAY.. its muslim President excluded....

#12 You get a kick dont you trying to bait the people on this blog?Your name is NOT lydia and your probably a serf to your muslim partner[man or woman ]so you ENVY the freedom of expression that's given to all views here and that makes you MAD. Not one NEGATIVE view is ALLOWED on ANY muslim network,I know I've tried to no avail. You must feel frustrated seeing all us here having the FREEDOM to tell it as it is.I understand as I KNOW that underneath it all you really ENVY the jews.so you can understand how you cant stay here {your an unstable people]
19 | Mike Feldman Canada, Friday Sep 11, 2009
Andy. What's become obvious it that lydia (?) is a nihilist. One of her (?) blogs to-day states that the Arabs were not mandated to recognize Israel as a result of the U.N. mandate. This, of course, justifies all the Arab aggression of the last 62 years. This type of sick thinking has a flip side. I have tried to post on Arab websites. No dice. Dissenting opinions not accepted. Not sure she resents our freedom. Freedom is her enemy. Freedom of thought would open a Pandora's box which would not be acceptable to revisions who long for the good old days. i.e. the Middle Ages.
20 | Tom, US, Saturday Sep 12, 2009
19 | Mike Feldman - Yes and what justifies the Israeli agression of the past 62 years Feldman. Most recently now an Israeli human rights group issued a report on the dead of Gaza. Out of over 1400 people slaughtered only 330 were militants. ALL the rest were civilians. A war crimes tribunal should be initiated for those criminals in your government and military just the same as was held at Nuremberg.
21 | Mike Feldman, Canada, Saturday Sep 12, 2009
Tom. I'm thinking you should spell your name Mot. Its seems you get everything backwards. The number of civilians killed is estamated at 330. The rest were Hamas militants. The 1400 number is your number. When the cowardly Hamas initiated the war with years of wanton rocket firing, knowing that sooner or later the Israeli PM would be forced to retaliate to protect his people, it is Hamas who are responsible for the misery it brought upon its people. Hiding among women and children shows no respect or value for the lives of civilians. After Hamas finishes stealing aid money (like Arafat), they will soon be removed from power. Then the Gazans will have a chance.
