Rosner's Domain: Does Obama have time for Darfur?Posted by SHMUEL ROSNER
Comments: 17      TNR's John McWhorter does not agree with some of the things I wrote for Slate about Obama and Darfur: Shmuel Rosner at Slate opines that America only intervenes in genocides when "it has no other urgent tasks to deal with." But Clintonians were not exactly at a loose end when they decided to intervene in a serious way (i.e. with bombs) in Bosnia in 1998. After all, that same year Clinton was concerned with little things like bombing Sudan and Iraq, not to mention trying to deflect us from his shenanigans with "that woman." I still think I'm right: Clinton was busy as President, but not with crisis similar to those his succesors had (Bush) and still have (Obama) to deal with. Bombing Sudan and Iraq was a serious matter - but not even close to invading and occupring Afghanistan and Iraq. Politically containing his shenanigans with Monica Lewinsky can't be compared to Obama's need to deal with the most severe economic crisis since the Great Depression. So - Clinton was busy. All presidents are busy. But he was also relatively free to invest time and money and political capital in Bosnia. Obama's situation is much different.

To Malden: I can easily quote from Shulhan Aruch, or Rambam, or Chesronot Shas, all kinds of strange quotations. Do you know the "sin of bestiality, for example? Do you know that some rabbis believe that parts of Turkey belong to Israel. Have you read Yisrael Shahk's book "Jewish History, Jewish Religion: the Weight of Three Thousand years."?
My dear, there are wide sectors within Orthdox Judaism who don't even recognize that non-Jews are bona fide human beings. Be honest and stop pretending that you don't know.

Regarding Dar Fur: There is no doubt that terrible acts of murder occurred there, and I believe those responsible should be prosecuted and punished for their crimes. However, it is very clear that Israel and her Zionist supporters are using the issue as "a red herring" to divert attnetion from Israel's own evil crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.
In the final analysis, Israel is in no moral position to criticize Sudan. Israel has been tormenting 5 million Palestinians for 60 years. And Israel's occupation of Palestine is nothing short of an act of rape.
Israel: look yourself in the mirror!

Mitz, Los Angeles: I share your concerns. There is a serious decadence in Jewish ethics these days. Jewish kids are not taught the ten commandments, instead they are learning arrogance, subterfuge, deception and Jewish superiority.
And many Jews are actually not worshiping the G-d of Abrahama, Yitzhak and Israel, but are worshiping the modern golden calf called Zionism.
in a nutshell, ZIonism has nearly killed Judaism. And Israel is becoming a huge embarrassment to the Jewish people. Israel is al-Qaeda magnified a thousand times.

Less than 1% of America = the military. Everyone else wants the gov't to take care of them. Obama has promised to do that and wants' financial security for every family in the world'. This weak, loose cannon could do anything as he placates communist dictators in South America, this week, and accepts scoldings from rubes. Our president is a clown, the world his circus.

President Obama does not care about sufferings of the Darfur people who are not Arabs or Palestinian Arabs. It is as simple as that. Palestinianism has become a religion for all the world'd anti-Semites and all common Jew-haters. The Darfurians are also black, unlike the Palestinians, and that is no credit for them; the international community is only interested in the "suffering" of white people, like the Palestinians, who are in a confrontation with the Jews. We are living in an age where manipulation, propaganda give "results", like the Palestinian "struggle" shows.

In black september, there were palestinians and Jordanians on both sides of the confrontation. It was not a palestinian-Jordanian confrontation as your propaganda portrays the event.
Hence your desperate and failed efforts to equate the hateful Nazi-like Israeli occupation with the Jordanian rule of the West Bank will go no where. The Jordanians are our brothers, not our enemies.
Our enemies are the child killers who murder children and then claim "we didn't mean it."

Like I said the 1st time, if the people in IsraHELL find Darfur to be such a horrendous event, then by al means go and handle it yourselves. But considering IsraHELL's lack of consideration concerning the human rights of the indigenous people of Palestine, I find it difficult to believe that you people are actually concerned regarding what transpires in Darfur.
