David Rothkopf:

Despite the endless and baseless propaganda to the contrary, getting tough with the Israelis on settlements or on other elements of the Israel-Palestine agenda will actually do precious little to address our greater concerns in the region while accepting a nuclear-capable Iran because we don't have the will to stop them from getting will damage U.S. interests in great and lasting ways. That's not to say we shouldn't seek to actively advance a two-state solution for the Israelis and the Palestinians. It doesn't say we should agree with Israel on everything and we shouldn't pressure for change where we disagree. But as a potentially unprecedented rift looms and as a shift in the politics of the relationship seems to be taking place, it's probably worth taking a deep breath and asking ourselves if we have fully thought through the consequences of what might come next.

(My short answer: no!)

It is not a matter of a rift, it is a matter of freeing America from the stranglehold of Jewish rober barons who want to destroy our country. America for decades has been utilized by the Jews for the sake of building a greater Israel. You stole trillions of dollars from our coffers, you impoverished us, and eventualyl you destroyed our economy by bullying our whore-like politicians to wage war on distant peoples in Pakistan and Afghanistan. In short, we have decided not to wage wars or shed the blood of our finest sons for Israel's sake.

Read #1 - Now we see the result of the American liberal left, and the American Jews who pray at its temples. They are accused of the most vicious blood libels just as we have been accused for centuries and where? IN AMERICAN COLLEGES by the so called educated, with higher education yet! This young American's view is not an exception, go visit the schools and see it is the rule. Thank you Jstreet, thank you Barack Obama, thank you Liberal American Jews. Every ill of the world now lies at your feet because of your weakness & shame to stand up proudly for yourselves as Jews & Israel.

America must not allow ZIonist Jews to control our government. Just look how these Jewish posters here are calling our President "Muslim" and "communist" just because he won't submit to Jewish power in Washington. Besides what is wrong with being Muslim? The Jews simply want 300 million Americans to be slaves and servants for 5 million Israeli Jews. And if the Americans say "No," then they shall be called "Muslims" and "terrorists" and "anti-semites." Well, if freedom for America is "anti-Semitic" then we are all anti-Semites. we are anti-kikes...we are all American patriots.

Dear American college student, Drop the crack pipe, you should drop out of college right now and save your parents a lot of money. I have never heard such utter bullshit from someone seeking a higher education. I can tell you voted for this looser President we have. I was in Israel in March of this year, I absolutely loved it. The place was beautiful, the people were very nice. I'm ready to go back. If you are this stupid, then keep your pie hole shut .

#2, the American people simply can't a manifestly racist government in Israel which openly says non-Jews have no right to equality. America can't support Jewish Nazism in the West Bank, people like hilltop thugs. How can an American government possibly support Jews who quote from the Old Testament and call for the extermination of millions of Christians and Muslims in the West Bank? Are you people crazy? This can't happen? We may be a little stupid, but we are still human beings, not animals.

#2 Ron - While you're right about your assessement of American (& often, Israeli) ''higher education'' & the rot that is spreading from liberal education, #1 is just another imposter, not an American, just an as*hole who infests this blog under various made up names, another psychotic anti-Semite. I read an interesting study linking virulent anti-Semitism to sexual dysfunction but some other researchers said this was just a symptom of borderline paranoid schizophrenia. When I went to university in the U.S. it was during the Vietnam war which, I believe, this looney-left rot really took hold.

The real question is does this administration think through ANY of it's foreign policy. Granted, Israel has a special place, for ideologic reasons, to be a target for this stupidity. But, the rest of Obama's policies are no less harmful to US interests. From N. Korea, to Iran, to Syria, to Russia, to Honduras, to every trouble-spot, Obama only knows how to make pretty speeches empty of content while he shows that he is no one to fear, except, of course, for America's allies. This is Dhimmi Carter all over again with a vengeance. Appease your enemies & screw your friends, that's his motto.

to American college student I think that Americans (or at least their politicians) are intelligent enough to take care of themselves. I also think that, given the much praised American democratic system, any politicians who do no have American interests at heart would be replaced. In short, your way of thinking is not only antisemitic, but also anti-American.
10  |  Observer, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
As we see, anti-Semitism is rising rapidly in the Obama America. The "American college student" is a good/bad example were things are going to in the US. With an anti-Semitic president, it's only natural. The low-level colleges are a good growing ground for the rise of anti-Semitism. The level of education in the US is low, the media is anti-Semitic and the elites are also becoming anti-Semitic. The rift will endanger the US interests in the Middle East. Israel has been the protector of the oil fields in the area, and that might end in the future. Soon, the US might have no allies.
11  |  Ted, Oklahoma city, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Observer, you are spreading lies, even obscene lies. I am an American college student, I don't see any anti-semitism here. Yes, we are against the recent genocide in Gaza, yes we are against the murder of Palestinians en mass by the Israeli army. But we are not against Jews. We hate Israel because Israel is evil, not because Israel is Jewish. In fact, many of the critics happen to be Jewish. finally, how do you think Americans ought to react to Israeli crimes in the West Bank and Gaza? Are we supposed to support Jewish Nazism?

Re: #1 I lament the caliber of malcontent being turned out by our universities these days. As compared to their predecessors a generation back these seekers of truth and justice are alarmingly ignorant of facts and historical context. The screeds spewed forth by these underachieving academics are more often than not hyperbolic idiocy "you stole trillions of dollars from us" based on unhinged emotion without a shred of veracity. I have often admired positions I have disagreed with, based on thoughtful analysis and rational interpretation of facts. This leftist cliche is a mockery.
13  |  Allen, Journalism student, Columbia University, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Chris, Israel: The Jewish rober barons have successfully controlled US politicians by way of money. When money appears heads bow. The Jews have a lot of money and they pay a lot of money for candidates who agree to tranform themselves into political prostitutes once they are elected. The Jews also control the so-called agenda-setter media. Hence, the Jewish stranglehod on our country.

This is sad! Though belonging to no particular religion myself, I have always considered (following Pope John Paul II,) that the Jews are our Elder Brothers; and the people to who God first spoke directly. President Obama ( and oddly, Mrs. Clinton) have not understood President Truman's recognition that "Israel and Greece are the twin pillars of Western Civilization." And, of course Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel: it was conquered by King David himself; wasn't it? It would be best for Israel and the world if she foregoes US aid, and strike out on her own. God is on Israel's side!
15  |  Andy, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Steve, don't be too sanctimonious, too self-righteous. You know the Jewish lobbies are controlling our government. President Carter has said so, prominent American academics have written books detailing the Jewish stranglehod in Washington, D.C. Now we have a president who has the guts to say No to Jewish power...and he is being called all sorts of names. We must stand for America, not Israel. Israel has already got us involved in costly wars overseas...thousands of our best children have been killed for israel. Enough is enough.

American betrayal of its "natural" friends and allies (not petro-friends the likes of Saudi&Kuwaiti Despotdoms) is a possibility. It happened before, when Uncle Sam dropped South Vietnam resulting in the evacuation of americans from the rooftop of the US Embassy. Contrary to S.Vietnam, Israel is capable of holding the lines . One good side effect will be to take away from the rabid anti-Israelis (genuine americans and imposters) the argument that America is "pouring money" on Israel.Another good side effect will be keeping a lot of jobs&industries inside Israel.
17  |  Christian aid worker, Jerusalem, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
V.R. Sonti, Lawrenceburg IN, USA, The Third Reich also thought that God was on their side. How could God be on the side of child-killers? People who exterminate thousands of innocent civilians under the pretext of self-Defense? Is God on the side of people who strafe school children on their way to school with machinegun bullets? Is God on the side of soldiers who force poor Christian and Muslim workers to drink the soldiers' urine? Is God on the side of a people whose religious leaders teach that non-Jews are actually animals in a human shape? What kind of god do you worship?
18  |  Sally - U.S.A., Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Sad that supposed "educated" people are falling prey to propaganda. These individuals making sweeping anti-Israeli statements sound very similar to Rev. Wright, et al - the entire "lets put false and harmful labels on Israel without any facts." It is exactly these types of propaganda phases and thoughts that impede peace, spread violence, and result in Abbas (use to be Arafat) recalcitrance. AND PROVES ROSNER'S POINT! Obama's Cairo Speech unleased this verbal vomit. Hopefully, as a student of history he (and they) will learn to distinguish between revisionist history and the facts.

Nobody reads this blog, even though its a good one, except Arab propagandists. Don't imagine that the crap you see posted here is from left-leaning US college students. They don't give a crap. Its from Arabs, plain and simple, and maybe some real Marxists. There is a concerted effort going on. Frankly if it brings on another war, where the Arabs get creamed good, I'm not against it. 911 may have been about Israel, among other things, but it was Arabs that done it, and don't try to get Americans to forget it. The US has a foreign policy, and it won't be diverted by fear of the likes of Arabs.
20  |  "Uneducated" American, New York, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Sally, do you think taht if we oppose Israel's genocidal policies in Gaza, we are rendered uneducated? Besides, how could you possibly claim that opposing Israel's settlement expansion impedes peace? We gave Israel a free rein for fifty years, but to no avail. A country that steals its neighbors land and transfers millions of its citizens to live on land that belongs not to them is a criminal country that doesn't want peace.

AMERICAN COLLEGE STUDENT is the classical College Student Nerd whose brain is RETARDED as a consequence of PLAYING WITH HIMSELF constantly...that explains his lamebrain ranting and raving drivel polluting JPOST...Ranting and Raving is a Muslim speciality and well may he STUDIOUSLY perfect it because his America is already lost to Islam and with such skills he is sure to become a celebrated MULLA. Like all MULLAS he can then rant and rave all he likes....

Hey so called "American patriots"/ Israel haters, you forgotten maybe the mass killing of women and children in the bombings of German cities in Europe and Japan by your fathers and grandfathers to give you and your chldren freedom to live the American dream? The Israelis are fighting a war of survival against enemies sworn to their destruction. At least the Israelis were more selective in Gaza than Your war machines, even in Iraq. So cut the hypocrisy, let the JEWS now defend THEIR children and way of live, OR go live somewhere like Iran and see how THEY regard YOUR human rights!
23  |  Terry - Eilat, Israel, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Obama's policies are leaving a power vacuum all over the world. As the saying goes, nature abhors a vacuum (as you can see by some of the posts on this blog - the vacuum fills with BS) & America's enemies will fill that vacuum. Weakness is not a foreign policy. Anyone who watched Obama with Putin could see the open contempt he had for Obama, his eyes glazed over, you could see him saying to himself,''why am I wasting time with this fool?'' Obama & his team of Clinton re-treads don't care much about consequences but an eventual crisis will overtake them.
24  |  American Teacher in Turkey, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
This message board is deeply disturbing. The anti-Israeli rhetoric is hyperbolic and involves a lot of cherry picking of facts. The anti-Obama accusations of being against Israel are so stupid they don't merit a response, just a strong declaration that the reader has no ability to discern subtle positions on anything. Israel has the right to exist, but America also has the right to make foreign policy decisions as it sees fit. Obama position on settlements and Israeli/Arab compromise is his vision (and many Israeli's and American Jews) vision for a reasonable solution.
25  |  American Teacher in Turkey, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Also, please please people. Stop calling Israeli actions Nazi-esque. I don't agree with Israeli decisions, but their decision are rooted in poor decision making and latent prejudice of generals and politicians, not an the innate evil of a political people. To Israeli supporters: Just because American foreign policy may not be as blindly devoted to Israel doesn't mean that Obama is an anti-Semite. I can say from living in a Muslim nation, that Israel's actions really do tarnish America's image. If you can't understand that that is a serious concern for America you shouldn't write any more.
26  |  Jerry, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
The anti-Israel posters here will make wonderful additions to the street mobs as they seek out Jews who they have never met to eliminate them from their petty world.
27  |  richard, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
The rift is not between America and Israel, but rather between Israel and a clueless Obama administration. Israel must hold fast in its settlemet positions. There should be an increase focus in discrete lobbying in congress. But most of all Israel should hire good public relations experts. Quite clearly Israel is losing the worldwide proganda war. Meanwhile Israel must ride out the storm and not make any suicidal concessions.
28  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Tough day for anything resembling the truth. Just to take the 2 blogs before this (23 and 24) Make up a fact, and then congratulate yourself for your conclusion. Of course it would not be wrong to oppose Israel's "genocidal" policies in Gaza, if they actually existed. Any reasonable person would knpow that activities from Gaza into Israel necessitated the Israeli respose. The American college student supports his? views because he actually read an article. Who wrote the article? If its a slogoneer like the student, what would it say? The blogs have reached a new low in factual content to-day.
29  |  Brian in the US Army, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
I see the rhetoric... Merely the act of calling something genocide makes it true. Where are the millions of exterminated Palestinians, and where are their corpses being burned by a people determined to wipe them out? Merely calling an act of defense a war crime makes it true. You people can say anti-Semitism is a stale argument, but the fact that you spend so much time excoriating Jewish Israelis instead of paying attention to far more egregious acts tells everyone exactly what's up. Thank heavens most of you are weiners, or I'd actually be worried.
30  |  Shel Zahav in Jerusalem, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
WE cannot speak for the US since there are a very wide variety of opinions. However, the empty suit who sits in the White House is an anti-Semite.
31  |  Shel Zahav in Jerusalem, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
These crazy leftists love to throw around terms like "genocide" and "apartheid" and "international law". They accuse Israel of apartheid (although they don't know what it means) even though nearly every Arab state practices apartheid to a large degree while Israel is the closest in the region to a multi-cultural state. The leftists like to use genocied whenever someone who is the recipient of the leftist fondness is killed. That is genocide. But Hamas openly declaring the wholesale slaughter of Jews because they are Jewish is neither genocidal nor apartheid-practicing. Leftist brainwashing.
32  |  Mike Feldman, Caqnada, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Richard. I'm not so sure that holding fast to the settlement policy in and of itself it in Israel's future best interest. Certainly, I think stategically its a loser. However, it is also a red herring in that it becomes all we talk about day after day. Why aren't we talking about Hamas' refusal to recognize Israel as a pre-condition to negotiations, or Abbas' foot dragging on agreeing to anything The Jewish lobby groups in the U.S. are in fact, very influentiaL right now. But they are left wing groups in favor of Obama's policies. Thats an important part of the U.S.-Israell "rift"
33  |  Nimrod Tal, Hebron, Israel, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
I believe that all of the anti-Israel posters are the same person posting under different names-American college student, Nancy Zegler, AZndy, reited US marine officer. Notice the same themes and style of writing
34  |  Shmuel, Israel, Sunday Jul 19, 2009
Wow. An amazing amount of anti-Israel comments here. That that they are based on non-truths and warped morality is a given, but I am surprised that ostensibly intelligent people actually seem to believe things like Kahana wanting to take over America, or a "genocide" in Gaza. It seems that the poster who "blamed" the liberal press is correct - repeat a lie often enough, and people will believe you.
