Dealing with Iran must seem easy to Doyle McManus of the LAT:

Indeed, the trick will be maintaining clear moral support for Iran's democrats -- plus any other aid that's useful, including keeping Iranians' lines of communication open, from Western broadcasts to cellphones to Twitter -- in the face of Iranian negotiators' inevitable complaints.

But in skillful hands, negotiations need not strengthen a dying regime. Instead, if the mullahs can be talked into abandoning some of the ideological pillars that have sustained their revolution for three decades, negotiations could undermine their rule in the long run.

Luckily for Obama, Iranians can't read English, so they will not even notice there's a "trick" involved.

The US doesn't have to do anything about Iran. Iran is no threat to the United States.
2  |  bannister , USA, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Winning Iranian support By supporting Iran and its common sense approach to Israel.
3  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Tom just came out of a secret meeting with the Supreme Leader who authorizes Tom to release the news that Iran is no threat to the U.S. Keep visiting this site, as Tom will be releasing further communiques when he's in touch with his sources in North Korea. To-day is a slow news day, so thanks Tom for this major breakthrough in world affairs.
4  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
bannister-are you saying that threatening to wipe Israel off the map is Iran's "common sense" approach to Israel. Are you therefore also saying that the U,S, should support this Iranian strategy?
5  |  Terry - Eilat, Israel, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
The only thing to do about Iran is a preemptive military strike against their nuclear installations, hit their Revolutionary Guards hard, & try to kill as many of the top Iranian leaders, including Khamenei & Ahmadinejad. Unfortunately, no one seems up to the job unless Israeli leaders finally make a necessary decision. Everything else is just BS.

Israel needs to stay strong on the negotiations that BHO wants to legitimize the outlawed Hamas. They will be taken off the terrorist list if Israel agrees to anything that legitimizes Hamas such as talking with them formally before they agree to Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. You need American help and I realize you cannot be a total free agent with this new administration. However if you stay strong now, the administration is starting to lose the American people on BHO’s domestic agenda and yes his groveling to Iran. Hang tough and you will get what you need. You will be villainized by BHO but within 6 months that will be a badge of honor to the American people. By the way the LA times is losing readers and will be faced with more cutbacks soon. Do not worry about that paper- we have no respect for them anyway.

I SUPPORT TERRY'S STATEMENTS. THE WORLD DID NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM WWII. YOU DON'T BS WITH TYRANTS THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT TALKING TO JERKS.
8  |  joey, Canada, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Feldman just got back from cashing in his welfare check, and is heading out to Walmart to get a globe so he can see how far Iran is from Canada. Mike, it's far, I don't think they'll be coming after you....
9  |  joey, Canada, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Which regime poses a greater threat to the world: Iran's Islamic republic, or Israel's right wing trigger happy regime? Israel makes me think of a spoiled child, trying to get his father (the US) to fight his nieghborhood fights.... and if not he will start it himself........ then call Daddy!!!!!!
10  |  former American diplomat, Paris, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Nonsense. First, Western, especially American support and backing of any movement in the Muslim world, means a kiss of death for that movement. If you want people to hate any public figure in the Arab-Muslim world, tie him or her to US backing. Second, the US would never ever support any a true democratic movement in the Muslim world. The US asked the Palestinians to organize elections in 2006, but when Hamas won, the US boycotted the Palestinians, imposed painful sanctions, and asked Israel to starve 1.5 million Gazans to death..very much like the Nazis did at Ghetto Warsaw.
11  |  Christian aid worker, Bethlehem, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Hamas is not a terrorist movement. Hamas and the rest of the Palestinian people are victims of Jewish oppression and occupation and apartheid. The true terrorist is the hateful Jewish state which murdered the Palestinians, stole their land, and expelled millions of them to the four corners of the globe. Besides, Hamas was elected by a majority of the Palestinian people in elections that were even okayed by Israel. Finally, if Jews have the right to elect Jewish terrorist groups such as National Union and Habayt hayahudi..whey can't non-Jews elect militant groups as well?
12  |  David Ben Gurion, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Terry, the Gung-ho Nazi settler. You are advocating genocide..don't you know what would happen next. Dimona would explode in your face....and hundreds of thousands of Jews in Dimona, Arad, Beersheva, Ramot, Omer, Lahavim, Kiryat Gad, Ashkelon, would die as a result of radiation. Even Sdey bokeyr, where I am buried, wouldn't be spared. The Iranians already have the bomb...if you attacked them, they will attack you, they will get your big ass blown up.
13  |  Margie Wisconsin, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Isn't there anyone or any way to just take out the supreme leader and remove Ahmadinejad so the rest will crumble and the people will have freedom?
14  |  Chuck Hanson, American soldier, injured in Iraq, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
I agree 100% with No. 1. Iran is basically a third world country. Millions of Iranians live in mud houses. Iran poses no threat to the US. America: don't let self-absorbed Jewish supremacists in Tel Aviv get you bogged down in another disastrous war against the Muslim world. We have already lost thousands of America's best sons and daughters in the Israeli-conceived war in Iraq. We must not be duped again by these self-worshiping Jews. Enough American blood for Israel?
15  |  Mike Feldman, Montreal, Sunday Jun 28, 2009
Joey. You're a stupid little puke. All you can do is try to insult someone who doesn't agree with you. To answer your childish question, Iran is the greatest threat to world security. You have mentioned your "spoiled child" analogy about Israel about a dozen times. I think the spoiled child is going to give the non-threat a spanking very soon. You are nothing but a low-life, Jew hater and in fact you have no interest in world politics unless it is an excuse to express your numb minded hatred of the Jews. I do know where Iran is and more importantly the Israelis know where Natanz is.
16  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Monday Jun 29, 2009
Chuck if you really are an injured American soldier, I am sorry for your injuries and know your country honors your service. \unfortunately I have to say "if you are really" because there several posters on these site who take on false identities to fake credibilty for their position. However you talk more like a "Tom" than a Chuck Hanson and you are the first person I've read who 100% agrees with Tom. Furthermore "Tom" earlier to-day identified himself as an experienced intel officer with world wide contacts. I don't think too many Iranians would agree they are a third world country. CONTD.
17  |  TEK NY, Monday Jun 29, 2009
The president of the US is not the president of israel and many Israelis refuse to recognize the difference. Israel will never be able to directly attack Iran unless the US offers full support politically and materially. Meanwhile quiet deplomacy is a better than wild rhetoric from Israeli politicians
18  |  Miike Feldman, Canada, Monday Jun 29, 2009
CONT-"Chuck" I also don't think that very many soldiers who served in Iraq thought they were serving in an Israeli conceived war. Your use of the words "self absored Jewish supremists inTel Aviv" suggest that you are simply pre-disposed to be a Jew hater. I truly hope that you are not desecrating the American armed forces to state your simplistic Jew hatred. Unfortuately I think you're a phony like other posters on this site.
19  |  Vadim, Beer Sheva, Monday Jun 29, 2009
Chuck Hanson Are you trying to say that Americans, despite their great democracy and intelligence of their leaders, take orders for somebody? or can be coerced into going to war by a small country like Israel?
20  |  Vadim, Beer Sheva, Monday Jun 29, 2009
"Christian aid worker" My (and most of the civilized people) definition of terrorism is killing innocent people in order to achieve political goals. Hamas perfectly fits - whether democratically elected or not. National Union and habayit hayehudi never killed a fly! And, by the way, they are certainly not "militant" groups - you can check this word in a dictionary too.
21  |  Vadim, Monday Jun 29, 2009
"David Ben Gurion" I read your comment. Will you now also try to convince me that that was a "legitimate criticism of Israel" and not simple antisemitism/racism?
22  |  bannister , USA, Monday Jun 29, 2009
Wiping Israel off the map! I think the Iranian position is that the current State of Israel should be wiped off the map. To the extent that the current Regime in Israel is similar to the South African Apartheid regime , it should be wiped off the map. to the extent Israel treats its Arab and Palestinian subjects like sub humans , it should be wiped off the map. This is the Iranian policy I support and I hope my country supports. Do you support continued Israeli occupation ethnic cleansing and racism?
23  |  Don from Palatine, Monday Jun 29, 2009
#14 Hanson ,your another idiot that volunteed to serve. Just because your a ignorant, anti-semetic moron, doesn't give you the knowledge to blame Jews. Prove your comments if you can read and write. Israel fights its own wars and has more courage than cowardly bigots like you. You should re-up and go to Pakistan, you would fit it with the muslims.
24  |  keith Rosen Calif. USA, Monday Jun 29, 2009
The Jews have been at war for 70 years, There sick of the whole thing. However being at war is much better than being slaughtered and not have a chance to fightback. The Palestinians had some of my sympathy till the slaughter of the Israel Athletes in Munich Germany. Since then I just want them ruined for there style of waging war. Arab Terrorism should be confronted Militarily where ever its lies, No quarter asked and no quarter given. People who blow up air planes and people who support them should be hounded to the end s of the earth and destroyed.
25  |  Another Veteran, America, Monday Jun 29, 2009
Chuck Hanson, thank you for your service to our country. I agree with you 100%. The zionists started all this trouble in the middle east and not even one American should die or be injured fighting wars started by the self chosen. Too bad we had a retarded moron, a burned out drunk and drug addict for president. When it was his time to serve daddy got him a position in the silver spoon brigade. Even then the moron was AWOL for 18 months which is treason in time of war and punishable by firing squad.
26  |  Chris USA, Monday Jun 29, 2009
If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck it must be a duck. Alternatively: If the shoe fits wear it (don't throw it).
27  |  Vadim, Monday Jun 29, 2009
bannister Actually, statistic shows that Israeli Arabs are doing much better than American minorities - in terms of their rights, access to medicine, education etc. And, by the way, in US you still have slavery under politically correct name "illegal immigrants".
28  |  Tom, US, Monday Jun 29, 2009
27 | Vadim - Statistics created by the same people who said that white phosphorous wasn't used in heavily populated areas. Statistics created by the very same people who bulldozed the chicken farms and orange groves of Gaza. Statistics created by the very same people who murdered over 300 kids and over 100 women in Gaza. Sure sounds like ethnic cleansing to me and that type of activity doesn't take place in America. So in what comic book did you find these statistics ?
29  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Monday Jun 29, 2009
#25 You are a clone. You're a repeat poster using a new identity and cutting and pasting pieces of your posts with a new identity. Bannister I don't recall Israel murdering 20 people who voted for other parfties after their recent elections like your beacon of democracy in iran. Tom women and children died in Gaza because your cowardly terrorists from Hamas used them as human shields after launching attacks on israeli women and children for years. Tom II don't think you know what ethnic cleansijng is, other than the fact you advocate it when it comes to Israel with your comic references
30  |  andy-london, Monday Jun 29, 2009
#9 and 22 I wasn't far of the mark about these clowns .Why are you not in Iran supporting your brothers and sisters who want to come into the 21st century. Oh I forgot the hezbullah suicide squad are shooting them down so being cowards you prefer the soft option, [the Israelis]he he,I hope you enjoy sending your comments here to the FREE press as your allah crowd dont allow ANY comments as their scared your people would get wise, like those brave reformers and you wouldn't be able to keep your people in the 6th century mindset. Have a nice day.
31  |  Tom, US, Tuesday Jun 30, 2009
No Feldman, women and children died in Gaza because of armed terrorists who wore Israeli military uniforms went in and intentionally gunned them down. To include firing WP shells directly AT schools with children inside. In one instant, children carrying a white flag were strafed by Israeli terrorists in uniform. One mans family was slaughtered when a drone fired a missile at his home. So try to white wash war crimes all you wish Feldman but you terrorist criminals need to be dealt with.
32  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Tuesday Jun 30, 2009
Tom #31, First let me say that war is hell, and if you care about your people you definetely should not intentionally start a war with an enemy which undoubtebly has the military strength to wipe you out in houjrs, if not minutes. Then it is completely thoughtless to rely on the restraint of that enemy while you are firing back at it fn crowded urban quarters. Having said that your firs t sentence is not true. Schools is plural, it should be singular. There was likely Hamas munitiolns in this home if it is true. Tom you're in the know, whose going to deal with Israel?
33  |  Tom, US, Tuesday Jun 30, 2009
You want to know whose going to deal with Israel ? You're going to find out Feldman because Israel has made enemies out of countries far more powerful than that postage stamp that only has 400 tactical nuclear weapons. For example, who was it that trained the Georgian military to invade S Ossetia and kil off a Russian unit and then tried to blame it al on the Russians ? Just a hint Feldman. So don't be surprised Mr Canadian jew when Tel Aviv becomes a glass parking lot that glows in the dark for centuries.
34  |  Mike Feldman, Canada by way of the U.S., Tuesday Jun 30, 2009
Tom. There you go again leaking classified information. Gee only 400 nuclear tactical weapons. You probably have more firepower in your garage for the 4th of July. The invasion of S. Ossetia didn't go so good if I recall-kinda like the ass kicking Hamas and Hizbullah took recently from the postage stamp. Tom I live in Canada but I'm actually an American Jew. With your intel network, I thought you'd know that. I highly doubt Tel Aviv will ever glow like a glass parking lot. Too gaudy for Jews. More like something you'd see in Dubai.
35  |  Tom, US, Tuesday Jun 30, 2009
It was right at that time Feldman when Russia made the deal to sell S-300 missile batteries to both Iran as well as Syria. PLUS, Syria gave Russia the right to use their port on the Mediterranean. ALL of that as a result of Israel training the Georgian army. The FSB is also completely aware regarding the mossad being behind the Beslan massacre. Israel thought they got away with trying to sink the USS Liberty until one of their subs disappeared off Cypress, LOL. So I hope you self chosen keep making enemies Feldman. You will see that glass parking lot yet.
36  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Wednesday Jul 01, 2009
Tom-Wish you had a last name so I could call you by it. Russia sold the missles to Iran and Syria because they need the money. Russia has traditionally armed the enemies of Israel. I don't think Putin says Ïsrael pissed me off, so I'll sell weapons to the Syrians and Iranians" Good of Syria to throw in a sea port. My sources tell me that Russia knows Mossad had nothing to do with Beslan. Russia is more concerned with Islamic fundamentaists than anyone else. Hence your earlier comment about U.S.-Russia detente. The closet we'll see to a glass parking lot in Israel is an ice hockey rink.
37  |  Mike Feldman, Canada, Wednesday Jul 01, 2009
Tom (last name witheld) Imagine my shock when I was reading the Ottoman registries and I couldn't find the name Yassar Arafat. Then I combed through the Egyptian registries and discovered that Yassar was born in Cairo. Imagine my dismay to learn the beloved terrorist leader of the Palestinian people was not an ïnigenous: Palestinian. Those Egyptians are such trouble makers.
38  |  Sam Canada, Wednesday Jul 01, 2009
Tom with all due respect, you are completely nuts if you think the mossad had anything to do with Beslan. As for Georgia, I am not an expert, but as I recall, the doctrine taught to their military was NATO inspired though I could not speak for what countries took part. If the US had trained Georgia's army, would you have regretted this? Russia periodically sells arms to just about anyone. It is called business. You are equally deluded if you think these sales were strictly to punish Israel. Arms for profit and influence, get it?

Georgia was the result of the pre-december conflict between Bush and Russia. There's a good write up on Foreign Affairs concerning the details.

37 | Mike Feldman - Imagine my dismay when I found out that Ariel Sharon (khazar jew) and his people came from the Ukraine. So what's you point Feldman ? If you actually knew how to read maybe it would lend credibility to your ramblings and false statements in here. So when is your birthday and address Feldman, so I can send you some new crayons and color books for your birthday ? ? ?

The Israel Factor, Sep. 2009: Obama is rapidly losing favor with panel of Israeli experts

Abdul Bakir: Israel is weak for war and for peace. We have won from Israel because we can kidnaps all Israeli not to matter solder or civil people. Israel must go to America and give arab land that is Israel. Our Alla say to us Jews are infidel like all infidel and it is Jihad to kidnap to maKe victry for Islam. Muslim will win we have many big rocket and I am solder of Islam. Not frigten from Jew Jew frigten from Arab.
Chris USA: Adina Kutnicki you are too extreme, making a mockery out of justice in the process! Israel's leadership is caught between a rock and a hard place because the 1st prisoner swap created this precedent which is now a mill stone around the neck of the government. A way must be acheived to end this practice without undermining public support for the government. Logically that means the public votes to determine the course of action on Gilad Schalit. Anything less calls into question the democratic nature of Israel. The vote should also include a measure to prevent future occurances.
soulpower sweden: "41attacking the messenger,as usual, rather than the issue.the swedes used to be an extremely well developed democracy;they took controll of their religion and made it apolitical. in the name of democraccy they then allowed huge influx of a foreign religion...in the name of democracy todays swedes are refusing to take controll of this foreign religion, so the foreign religion is taking controll of sweden...causing extreme disharmony and developement of extreme right.same problem as israel:democratic right used to destroy democracy.uncontrolled religious right is todays trojan horse
