Read Rosner's Guest: What's the best outcome Israel can hope for in Gaza? Rosner-reader James Adler has sent me a letter that I'd like to share with the rest of you. Hi Rosner... I continue to enjoy very much your blogs... James Adler My response: James is right. I wasn't paying enough attention. Kudos to James Adler!

I often comment, I express my opinions about what I read here.
I never attack other posters. I am often attacked because of my fundamental belief that the conflict between Israel and its neighbors will not be solved in the current context.
It wil be solved when Israel faces military parity with its adversarries.
This contention seems to result in many of my posts not making it.
It will laso be solved when all the Israelis are dead or gone , or all the Palestinians are dead or gone.
Two people with claim to the same land will not be solved diplomatically.

Thank God for US millitary aid. Without hundreds of Palestinian children might live normal lives, uncorrupted by the hatred of the Jews, driven to retaliate with pathetic homemade devices. Israel will be a sea of glass unless it learns to tolerate its limitations.

The bombing of Gaza is just too much. Israel is an artificial political entity imposed on Palestine by the Brits and French and sustained since by U.S. arms and aid. Palestine is an occupied country; why shouldn't Palestinians try to take it back? Must Jewish people (some) continue to act like lying, thieving, murderous thugs? Or must the world be conflicted forever by the ignorant and despicably evil actions of people who insist on believing the myths, superstitions, fantasies and fictions of the Abrahamic religions? Will be ever live in a civilized world?

"Tom" spoke of killing Jews and other extremely violent hate remarks. I appreciate Rosner's apology and immediate response. This should not be acceptable on any blog. James Adler's thinks the problem is with name-calling and personal abuse. Accusing those enraged with "Tom", is like blaming Israel for responding to rockets from HAMAS. Tom was calling for killing and James is upset about name-calling. Let's stop intellectualizing and being diplomatic. Let's get priorities straight when comparing calling for killing people to name-calling. Still thank you for bringing attention to "Tom's posts.

I suppose the bombing of Israeli towns is okay, and you want the israelis to respond with a kiss. Well, the Gazans are getting what they deserve...its Hiroshima time, Joseph! You remeber Hiroshima dont you Joey, I think we Americans killed over 70,000 that day! Maybe it was because they did "Pearl Harbor" to the USA! Muderous thugs...yes, thats what I call the jihadist terrorists that did 9/11. You remeber 9/11 dont you Joe! Thats the same enemy Israel faces! "Abrahamic" religions..Indeed! That tells us a lot about your bigotry! Joey boy!

Tom's comment, the original one that was indeed hate speech and an incitement to murder, has been altered. The incitement to murder was removed since i posted my comment.
I am more than happy to keep this discussion civil. I am not prepared to let hate speech and incitement to murder (repeated for emphasis because that is what was printed) go unchallenged.
What is going on here?
Respectfully,
Shmeelshiya

Hurrah for Israel!!!! I'm sick of the onesided love affair for these murderers. They complain after sending rockets into Israel....Give me a break. Israel should finish them off. They deserve whatever's coming to them.

The Left, generally living overseas is never happy whenever Israel defends itself by hitting back, yet is also deafeningly silent when the Palestinians do the hitting. History has shown that the Left is consistently wrong when it comes to Middle East issues. Their talk about talk and compromise is viewed by the Arabs as weakness and appeasement, which only leads to more Arab aggression and provocation, The Right is correct in the need to respond with force. Yet response has to be total, or else it will again be viewed as weakness and capitulation only leading to more future Arab aggression.

Thank you Hank, for telling the Truth and willing to take a stand for the Jews whose Land it is that was given to them by God over 4,000 years ago; way before there were any Palestinian people. My wife and I have been and will continue to pray for Israel.
11 | Frank Johnson--Watertown NY, Saturday Dec 27, 2008
How can any country subjected to daily rocket and motar attacks not respond? Israel deserves to exist--what country has done more to create itself from nothing? If the money given by the Arab nations, the U.S. and others had been used to establish a legitimate Palestinian gov and build the infrastructure of its area it would today be a self-suffient nation. However, using the money to buy bullets, rockets, and to teach hate toward the Jews has gotten it to where it is. Haamas itself is RESPONSIBLE for this end result. Until they(Hammas) desire peace it will only get worse.

Joseph #4...your statements are entirely wrong, pure Arab propaganda. The facts are that the great increase in Arab population in the 20th century came from Syria, Egypt and others...Instead of mouthing off, google up the 1920-30 census of the Mandate. The land was part of Ottoman Turkey, won by conquest, taken by the Allies in 1914-18 war. Given to the Jewish inhabitants by the treaty ending that war...either you recognize international law or what? By the way where do you think Arabs came from and how did they come to the Land of Israel in the first place...

Susan-Argentina I AM ASTONISHED AT TOM´S WORDS. MY COMMENTS WERE NEVER PUBLISHED HERE , DESPITE BEING SOFTER THAN TOM´S.
THANKS FRANK , & CHUCK FOR WRITING SO WELL MY THOUGHTS. INDEED ,4000 YEARS AGO the alleged "palestinians" didn´t exist. And as Frank says,ARABS should all be self-suffient DEMOCRATIC STATES- Instead , they are terrorist , suicide-trainers , smugglers , tunnel-builders .If they want to get different results, they will have to do DIFFERENT THINGS. Otherwise, this is sheer madness.

#4 Joseph's delusional rant is out of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". Israel is real, to turn a phrase. It has been independent for 60 years. Get used to it, or go tell the Turks and the Hungarians to go back to Central Asia, and the Arabs to go back to Meccah, for that matter. And what about East Prussia? Shouldn't that go back to Germany? And Smyrna to the Greeks? The list is endless. The Palestinians are simply a culture of violence. They like it. That's how they are raised. If they can'tmake peace, and keep the peace, THEY should go someplace else. Sudan seems a nice fit.

First thank you for the letter by James Adler. If a hateful comment is incorrectly posted it may achieve the poster's desired result of name calling as seems to have been the case here. Such inflammatory postings should not be accepted if only to avoid these excessive ad hominems. Now to the M.E.: Whether we question the legitimacy of both people's right to a given land, the facts on the ground necessitate a resolution that recognizes both parties. Revenge only perpetuates the cycles of aggression that may escalate into a colossal bloodbath and possibly genocide.

Funny that the right-wingers who are coming in here from Free Republic to show their "support" for Israel really are still furious with Jews and Israel because of the "death of Jesus" - that supposedly happened 2,000 years ago, while the Palestine conflict has lasted for about 60 years. The truth about American Free Republic-style right-wingers is that they, like Hamas, want to see Israel wiped out too. But only so Jesus can come down and lift all the good Christians to heaven. Yawn.

I don 't need 600 characters to say what I want to say. Only a few will be necessary to express my relief that Israel is finally taking action to protect its citizens, so....... Get 'er done!

2 questions: Would the IDF be moer effective in fighting a guerilla-style warfare in Gaza rather than fighting conventianally? E.g. military commandos that infiltrate deep and inflict damage and cause insecurities in Hamas´s ranks? Question 2: The Arab world has Al-Jezeera, the West the BBC and CNN. Why doesn´t Israel have a 24/7 voice on the internet to bring perspective in the distorted news coverage of what´s happening in Israel?

As a Jew and Zionist and a human being I beg HAMAS leaders to do what is rIght for their People . Denying Israel the right to exist could destroy what is left of gaza . If the jihadists Hammas have their way they and us will all be destroyed as Israelis are not going to turn the other cheek. As aJew my heart weeps for the palestinian children and their mothers even as they shout KILL THEM ALL and down with the Jews. Our humanity is pained by the need to do this retaliation . Its either me the jew or you the arab if you draw a knife on me. Sorry.daliya

Hamas is getting its just desserts. Gaza was supposed to become part of a future Palestinian nation. Instead, Hamas turned it into Terrorist Central, one giant Kassam launching pad. These people do not give evidence of being capable of or desirous of self-rule. They do not long to be a nation or to be prosperous. The monies they have received have gone to building tunnels, buying weopons, trainning more terrorists. How can Palestine be built with leaders such as these? They do not care how many of their people get killed as long as there is a photo op.

Hamas is like any school yard bully. Every thing is fine as long as they are the ones doing the bulling but the moment one stands up to them they want to go running to the teacher crying foul. The world should go old school on Hamas and tell them you got what was coming to you. Israel had every right to fight back after a week of attacks. And to my fellow Americans you know good and well it would have taken just one rocket before you would have been screaming for action. Remember 9/11?

l see thatt the eastward expansion is still happening in the west bank! Are these airstikes on and murder of the people of Gaza the beginning of Israels final solution for the Palestinians? These crimes against humanity will one day be punished by the international courts.

What do these people have in common ? ? ? Saul, David, Soloman, Adam, Seth, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, John the Baptiser ? ? ? NOT even one of them is called a 'JEW' in the bible. The term 'JEW' isn't even mentioned in the 1st eleven books of the Bible. The first time the term is mentioned in the Bible is in 2 Kings 16:6 and that was only after the Bible had been revised. YOU ARE NOT ISRAEL ! ! ! You are impostors living on stolen ground. But in Revelation 2:9 we can all read what the Bible says about you today.

It's a baloon payment day. Hamas supposed to get back every rocket and bullet sent to Israel with usuary interest rate. With enimy, eager to kill all of us, IDF still playing too nice. Some appartment buildings have weapon factories/storage rooms inside. Residence for sure know it. So, spread flyers/advertise that EVERYthing of above, every bldg, higher than 2 floors, will be bombed. No responcibilities assumed. They will run like rabbits. Hopefuly, due to a winter, to Egipet. Let Arabs help Arabs and IDF assure Jew's safety

Secular talmudic types could have a field day with the issues Mr. Adler addresses and the distinctions he makes. In general, I agree with how he goes about distinguishing loud, brash criticism of others from abuse.
The safest approach, especially for those of us prone to sarcasm and vitriol, is to refrain entirely from ad hominem comments and focus solely on the content of the person you're responding to.

The impact of internet upon the real world behavior of human beings has not been determined. Is all the anonymous invective therapeutic in reducing real world abuse and violence or does it increase it and make it more likely or is it completely irrelevant? I believe that the outing of lashon hara behind masks of anonymity tends to reduce rather than augment it in the real world. It would be different if people put their names and reputations behind their hyperbolic internet polemics. The fact that they don't shows that they know it to be fundamentally inapproriate. Remain over the top please!

To the UN, where were you while all the rockets and mortar shells were sent to Israel with the love and kisses of Hamas and the rest of the Arab world.
If the Arab world finds retaliation not to their liking, I suggest they stop Hamas. If not, shut up and absorb what you have earned and deserve.
Unfortinately the UN name is false. United Nations was an idea which has never come to fruition.
The proper terminology is AP = arab propaganda.

"Now is the time to fight"! Thank God Olmert has got the "King David"-like guts to smite
the enemies of Israel in Gaza. What country in the world would tolerate being rocketed daily by a gang
of thugs?Hamas has got to go: root, stem, and branch. That's all there is to it. Take it out...permanently.
Let the press wail. Let the demonstrators demonstrate; but don't compromise Israel's security. The state of Israel is surrounded by enemies. The only solution is to destroy them, before they destroy you.

As a black man, I for one am proud to call Israel friend and love, you have my loyal support to the end and I for one will not hesitate to join the ranks of the IDF if calle upon to do so. G-d gave the world Israel for a reason and I believe that reason was to be a shining light for all the world to see.

Was not to long since I start posting comments in different blogs that related to Israel or conflict.
I know what anti-Semitism means but it helps me over years starting in former soviet union develop thick-skinned nature for non letting that stuff change who I am, all my friends say I am all right. However some of the comments pile of hatred sugar glazed even here Paul from England advocating that Jews have nothing to do with land of Israel and every thing Israelis do is a crime to be decided in international courts. So to me it looks like Paul put ventilation of hate pockets as a priority against not to support terror. Taking in consideration that because those maniacs can harm Jews is not such a bad development. Right Paul? In majority international court made of Pauls. Finally how politically correct I have to be for non calling this bigotry , hatred, disgusting. Sure you right to say express your opinion and dont judge others then why bother to participate.
