US military aid to Israel

Question #7

Do you support President Bush's decision to increase the annual military aid to Israel from $2.4 billion to about $3b. for a period of 10 years, pending Congress approval? In principle, do you believe US aid to friendly Mideast and Gulf nations (whether Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Qatar) should be cut in return for greater domestic investment?

Religious Education

About 'The Road to the White House'

Question #5
The cost of education has become almost unaffordable for parents who send their children to parochial schools, Jewish or other. No one is asking for the state to pay for religious studies. Americans want to keep Church and state separate. But what is your platform/plan/program to assist parents who want their children to have a religious as well as secular education?

Israel-US ties

In the run-up to the 2008 US presidential elections, The Jerusalem Post Internet Edition JPost.com has invited central presidential contenders to respond to questions on matters of importance to Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.

We will be sending out questions to the candidates every two weeks or so. We started out with a relatively general inquiry about the importance they attach to the US's strategic alliance with Israel and how, if elected, they would work to foster that alliance (see below). The questions will get more specific as the campaign heats up.

Question #1
What's the importance of Israel as a strategic ally and how would your administration manage ties between the two countries?

Laura McConkey: Mr. Shoemaker, you are obviously very ignorant of the situation and should keep your comments to yourself. Read your history--Israel has always been subject to the kind of terrorism and ignorant bigotry of people like yourself who fail to understand the facts. Nothing could ever warrant the type of terrorism that Hamas has perpetrated on the Israelis, who are simply trying to live in the land that was given to them in 1948. If you ever take the time to visit Israel, you may (as I did) meet lovely Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian people who live peacefully under Israeli rule.
breeze, usa: we homeschool. not every American has it mixed up about church and state It was supposed to keep the state out of the church, not keep church out of the school. But in all honesty, i do not want just anyone to teach my child the Bible, i want it taught God's way and what he wants, not what man's interpretation is and what man's opinion is. So homeschool it is God leads we will follow.
