Bibi's Blog: Olmert's undeserving government

Behold.

The PM who failed in the war is evading responsibility.

Never has the State of Israel decided to go to war with such vast national and international support, including the rallying of the opposition to push back the attacks on Israel in the international sphere.

Never has the State of Israel gone to war while having such a big upper hand on the opponents it faced. Not since the War of Independence has the government had so much time to bring such a decisive ruling on what is to transpire in the battlefield.

However, even with such advantages, and as pointed out by the Winograd Committee, it is the first war initiated by Israel that it did not win.

The IDF fought with bravery and courage. The failure lies with the amateurish government.

Responsibility for the IDF lies with the political echelon! It is here where the right questions must be asked and where the right decisions must be taken. It is the political echelon that directs the military and not the other way around. And it is the political echelon that failed utterly in the Second Lebanon War.

This is the main finding of the Winograd Committee and it is no use trying to cover it up.

The committee had concluded: We place the responsibility on the shoulders of the three figures at the helm.

But while two of those figures - (former) Defense Minister Amir Peretz and (former) Chief of General Staff Dan Halutz - have since resigned from their positions, the prime minister refuses to follow suit.

He refuses to take responsibility, refuses to discover personal integrity and leadership, and refuses to do what the winning majority expect him to do.

There is great meaning to the word 'responsibility'. When a system fails so completely and when the consequences are so severe, the system must be replaced.

It occurred with other significant failures since the establishment of the State, and it occurred following this war with the military echelon.

Taking responsibility is not just about talking about responsibility. In this case, the PM must act as the defense minister and the chief of staff did.

Israel's citizens know that the country is currently being led by a PM who is not fit to sit in office, nor is he deserving of his title. [Defense Minister] Barak also knows this well, and the public expects him to fulfill his commitments to disable this failing leadership.

The argument that making such fateful mistakes can only lead to learning from them and fixing them is profoundly baseless and unrealistic.

Who would put his life in the hands of a surgeon who failed a surgery?

Who would get on a bus whose driver has been involved in a fatal accident?

The government is choosing to disconnect from the people and their pain. There has been a breakdown in the values of national responsibility that until last week was a guiding principle.

The schism is great but we, the citizens of Israel must not lose hope.

Israeli democracy is strong. I count on it and I put my trust in the integrity of the people and their strength.

Government spokespersons tell us that the situation is outstanding. Is that so?

In the north, Hizbullah is rearming at will. In the south, Hamas is launching thousands of rockets at our citizens and our cities. In the Southwest, the border between Gaza and Egypt is essentially breached. And the rest of the central systems in our daily lives, such as the educational system, are collapsing due to lack of vision and lack of deeds.

Is this the leadership in whose hands we must entrust our lives?

Is this the leadership in which our soldiers must put faith in should a second round of fighting arise?

Is this the leadership that can demand from the Palestinians the minimal conditions required for a true and just peace?

Israel's citizens sense that this leadership is preoccupied solely with its survival. They hear the collective sigh of relief from the Prime Minister's Office; they hear the celebrations and their hearts fill with anger and sorrow.

What happened to the guiding principles and the values that once led the country? Will this custom of lack of responsibility be what we raise our children with?

The prime minister's people speak of a 'continuous government', but in essence they are referring to the continuity of Olmert's rule - a rule of failure, inconsistency and irresponsibility that despairs the majority of the population.

And those who despair and those who are affected are not only the bereaved parents of soldiers who fell or of reserve soldiers who fought with courage and could be called to battle again.

We are talking about the masses of people from across the political spectrum who ask for good and responsible leadership for the State of Israel. And this leadership is attainable only through new elections.

David Ben-Gurion said: "Acknowledge every Hebrew mother who entrusted the life of her son in the hands of deserving commanders". Now I say "Acknowledge every Hebrew mother who entrusted the lives of her sons and their commanders in the hands of a deserving leadership."

Today, Israel's citizens are saying to the prime minister, loud and clear:

You are undeserving.

You do not deserve to lead the State of Israel any further.

Agree with BN, Israels needs are not being met by PM Olmert, Conservatives in america support Israel 100% and are sending money to support you, as well as prayers. Our President Bush is a loyal and avid supporter of Israel, but doesn't realize there should be no Palestinian state. Jersualem, Judah, and Samaria should not be divided... It is your birth right from the almighty. Genesis ch. 13:14-17. Beware you are not deceived by new Presidental candidates in America, who would negotiate with terrorists. McCain understands the importance of a first strike option. Sincerely Mrs. D. Shafer

Why do the american Jews vote for the Democrats, who would give Israel up for oil if the choice was given to them is beyond me!!!!

BiBi,We are reminded that israel has the best military in the world. When it comes down to action both Barak and Olmert, change from a hard stance into a politcal solution.Obvious the poltical isnt working. Why dont we show Hamas how much damage we can do.Mortar attacks everyday and we talk about retaliantion. On paper we have a good military but it is obvious that we are not the same as we were during the 1973 Yom Kippur war.We live in past victories but without the oportunity to show the world what we can accomplish. We arent what we used to be.The younger generation dosent fight like it use to

According to End-Time Bible prophecies, nations have began and will continue to gather themselves to come against Israel, but God will intervene as promised and yet, only a remnant will be saved, as Jesus said. “For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” Luke 19:43-44. The Second Coming/Rapture is indeed at hand!

Is there hope for Israel from all the contempt surrounding her borders? I recently had the opportunity to listen to a once dangerous man where justifying his thoughts and actions against Israel and America were about begin. A Muslim man named Kamal Saleem and his video story called, “IN THE RED CHAIR”. Whether Jew, Gentile or Muslim, I challenge all to watch his video trailer free then gauge your own life accordingly. http://koomeministries.com/redchair.htm

Bibi, you must be elected soon or Israel will suffer a massive blow from terririst states. Olmert should go back and be a mayor. He is not PM caliber and the Jews are suffering because of it. If McCain is elected, Pres. Bush will not attack Iran, however, if Obama is elected, Bush will strike. Israel needs Bibi and McCain to be elected.

Tonight, June 22, there has aired a special documentry on History International in the US titled "Saddam and the Third Reich" This special documents Saddam's and the Barth Party's idological start by and ties to Hitler's Reich and how many of Hitlers priciples and thinking still exist in the Barth party today. This includes the Syrian Barth Party. Do we want to be like PM Neville Chamberlain and negotiate with a group that believes in the lies of Hitler. Do we want a PM to wave a paper and say "Peace in Our Times" We have been there before!

we all know that there can be no peace with muslims so why all this phony road map to peace?the only way to stop muslim murders from launching daily attacks against israel is to force them out of judea and gaza.send them scurring across the borders to live with their fellow muslims.then make it clear to places like lebonon if one terror attack is launched from there that you will flatten and occupy that area.pay no attention to jew haters like the french who were happy to round up jews for hitler the only french who hid jews were the huguenots. most real americans support isreal.

Nobody will nuke Israel! They'd have to wait 3.5 years before they could move into the shambles. They prefer the fancy high rises and posh resorts. Chemical/biological makes more sense--though even that is ridiculous at this point. Stop worrying and start living! The war-mongers are at it again... they profit from selling arms, from military contracts, etc. That's why there is so much government/media manipulation favoring a strike on Iran. They hate peace--there's no $$ in it. They'll learn a hard lesson. Go for peace, Bibi. I'll show you the way. The US will pay. "NEGEV MEGA PROJECT".

"...know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men" (Daniel 4:17). Read Daniel 4. You've had a Nebuchadnezzar experience lasting more than 7 years! Have you learned, "those that walk in pride he is able to abase" (V.37)? Your answer lies in YHWH--not in military prowess, economic policies, political alliances, even political leadership. Those are all secondary. Streams will flow in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). Palestinians will have a homeland in the blossoming Negev (Isaiah 42:1-7). God will perform it.

I believe that this is the moment to stop the non-sense of a leadership that will give to the enemies of Israel a victory that they haven't got on the ground! Two dead bodies for more than two hundred of enemies and terrorists, is not a deal but a non sense act without past, without future. I think that it's the moment to vote a bill against Olmert because of his anti-Israel activities.

What if Israel and Jordan allocated part of the Negev for a Palestinian Homeland and called it Edom (its ancient name)? What if I showed you where there's FRESH water, comparable to the flow of Euphates that could irrigate it, turning it into a beautiful garden--all without starting a water war? What if I could show you how other nations would finance the project, creating huge economic benefits, and resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? I'm an engineer and a student of the holy scriptures. I'm not talking nonsense. This is the Negev Mega Project. I need to meet with Bibi.

BiBi Where are YOU??? Why does disaster have to strike and many die before one acts???? Why is it that the Israelis don't want to look at reallity??? Isn't better to fight an enemy when you are strong and they are weak?? How many times and in how many countries and in how many ways do moslems have to say that they want to kill us before we believe them???? Why is the line in the sand constanely being moved against our people by our own leaders??? Why is it that Jews would reather be dead martyrs than live human beings in the end??? BiBi Where are YOU?????????????

I understand all about gutless leaders. Clinton is one and most demacrats in america are. I hope Israel is blessed with a leader that understands you don't deal with the devil ( Terriorist ) and don't be swayed by gutless american so called leaders. Israel will have to deal with iran by itself. America is fighting terriorist with a stick instead of all out war. War is not fare. You have to overwelm your enemy. I wish and pray Gods protection over Israel.

i think that the problem of corruption is historicly deep-rooted in the Israeli "state".Talking about Olmert and that it is hight time for him to leave is just because of electorial matters. The inner fronts in "Isreal" are trying to gain the lost confidence of the isreali people after the defeat that Hizbu Allah made " Israel" suffer in 2006.

I don't understand why Olmert is still in office...why aren't the Jews in Israel demanding he be ousted. How is he still allowed to speak with Arab leaders and make deals that will destroy us. Bibi -my 22 year old American son is going into the IDF in two weeks-by his choice. I pray you are elected and will keep him safe. Please - no more deals with people who only want our destruction. No more "land for peace". No more making nice to the US State Dept people who could care less about Jews and Israel.
20  |  Ben Ami, Tel Aviv, Tuesday Aug 05, 2008
Correct me if I'm wrong, Bibi, but weren't you a member of the government during the years preceding the Lebanon war? Were you the minister of finance when the defense budget was slashed? Didn't the Lebanon war show just how unprepared the army was, and how it had deteriorated during the years preceding the war? So, didn't you share responsibility for that (at least for some of it)? ------- You can't seriously hold Ehud Olmert responsible for the performance of the IDF in a war that was launched just weeks after he was elected? Surely, Bibi, you too are responsible. Possibly more than Olmert!

israel dont ever give up jerusalem as it belongs to you by divine decree.
22  |  susie/Florida, Sunday Aug 10, 2008
Hello, I would like to give a partial answer to the question, "Why do Jews in America vote Democrat?" I live in in South Florida and pay very close attention to both local and goverment politics. Simply put, people, here, no matter, race, religion etc. have absolutely ANY knowledge of what occurs outside of their own daily lives. Politicians evoke the name Israel, in elections only. Our media thinks it is more important to follow Paris Hilton, then to focus on the daily struggles of our allies. Good luck to you Israel ! Please get Mr. Netanyahu back in to office.
23  |  Rabbi Yosef Levanon, Monday Aug 18, 2008
Dear Mr. Netanyahu, Please keep Israel strong by all means and never lower your guard. Keep Israel spiriitually uplifted , strong and unified; and lower the disparity berween poor and well-to-do. We love Israel! Rabbi Yosef Levanon
24  |  David Raleigh Clark, Saturday Aug 23, 2008
Israel's problems are Israel's problems and it it long, long, long past the time for the United States and any other nation to offer financial or any other material aid to your nation, apart from demanding that your right to existence, after all these years, be recognised by all. Should there be a war over this question, defend yourselves. You have, after all, no interest in anyone but yourselves and the inexcusable and truly unspeakable horrors your ancestors have experienced. The fact that others have and are suffering, too, means nothing to elitists such as yourselves.
25  |  Paratrooper United States of America, Saturday Aug 30, 2008
The first rule of war, go to war to win! The United States of America must sell Israel our most advanced long range heavy bombers immediately. The B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit, and the F-22 Raptor. Iran wants to make the middle east an inferno, then I say the United States of America needs to get up off its complacent butt and send a strike force through the sky never before seen in this world and wipe the Iranian nuclear ambition off the face of God's great earth, now or never.

bb we love u and want u to get ur position back as prime minister!!! but i also gotto mentoin about ur first line "The PM who failed in the war is evading responsibility." lets be honest a minute here i dont care what the world thinks and what israel thinks we DIDNT and i mean did not lose the war in lebenon maybe we didnt win but they certainly didnt win u saw how they were all running like sheep? and how a few guys soldiers (terrorists) were throwing stones at our f 16s comon we didnt lose!!!!! maybe we didnt take them out like we could have but that was all world politics it was our fault!!

Mr. Netanyahu; I do not understand how you could assess that the internationla community had supported Israel's retaliation against Hizbullah...The United Nations and the United States had supported Israel, but then told Israel to hurry up...If I recall correctly. That is not international support, that is quagmire...
28  |  Ileana Stan, Romania, Friday Sep 19, 2008
Mr. Olmert isn't so bad. He is totally devoted to his nation. The Lebanon war was nothing than an oil business. Someone became wealthier. But not the State of Israel. Someone... I hope you know who. You're such a clever man.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE COME THE NEXT PRIME MINSTER OF ISRAEL. ISRAEL IS AT AN EMPASS. WE GO FORWARD ON A PATH OF GIVING AWAY WHAT NEXT THEIR FIRST BORN SON,S THEIR IS NO MORE LAND TO GIVE. OR DO WE FIGHT AND GET BACK WHAT,S IS RIGHTFULLY OURS. EVERY INCH OF IT .ALL THEWAY BACK TO GUSH KATIF WHAT,S YOUR POSITION BEN????????????

Someone is needed for Prime Minister who can present Isreal's true situation in "American-style" English. Someone who can dispel all those Arab lies, first of which is that they have claim to any part of Israel and that Jerusalem is theirs. Someone to clearly show that there there is not, and never was, a Palestinian nation. Someone to show that the "Roadmap" doesn't lead to peace, but Israel's destruction. Someone to help Arabs to find a different home, other than Israel. That person would have been Rabbi Kahane, but since the Arabs murdered him, it falls on you, Bibi.

Israel conducted a war like she was taking military strategy orders from GW Bush, and he was drunk with a female reporter while he gave the orders to Olmert. The situation in Iran demands decisive and unequivocable action, with full resolve and understanding of all consequences and international repercussions. Remember, Ronald Reagan condemned Israel for bombing the Iraqi nuclear reactor. If Israel hadn't done so, imagine the implications for the future in Israel, the US and elsewhere.
