As Operation Cast Lead enters its third week and the death toll in Gaza mounts, calls from around the world denouncing Israel and its actions have been growing stronger. As the battle on the ground increased, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and popular blogs and forums as well as the mainstream media became the battlefields for public opinion. For a compilation of anti and pro-Israel demonstrations around the world and clips of pro-Israel hasbara efforts, click here.

The following webpages, videos and photos illustrate the ferocity of the on-line element of the Gaza war.

The popular Israeli comedy show Eretz Nehederet [A wonderful country], dubbed Israel's Saturday Night Live, does a skit on the international press' coverage of Gaza.

As Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip continues, many voices around the world are calling for an Israeli boycott. This video titled 'So, you want to boycott Israel?' illustrates what the boycott would entail.

Two news anchor from France24 discuss the Gaza war and why it has become a 'damned' subject for newspapers and blogs worldwide:

The BBC-mocking clip is great! Thanks and do not forget outsiders: BBC fights on behalf of concepts like obfuscation, distortion, and sometimes - not incidentally - outright lies.

it seems to me that whatever is said,a lie will be told,I live in the UK I'm not a JEW,in fact when I was younger I was antisemitic, however I am now a mature man and have witnessed the lies told about the JEWS,and am saddened that the nations of the world are so quick to forget their guilt and now want to wipe it away by shouting the lies louder and further, have we no shame ? or love ? no ! we are nations living in fear trying to avert disaster,we are acting like cowards instead of standing with you,SHOUT THE TRUTH LOUD ISRAEL !! eventually they will hear you,the truth will out !!! SHOUT SHOUT

So you want to boycott Israel is a gem, but YouTube has removed it for "Terms of Use Violation". I wish the entire world could see this video - it's got to be re-uploaded onto YouTube!

How can you make a joke of suffering and pain?
6  |   Galilite, Friday Jan 16, 2009
The BBC clip is excellent!!! Why the hasbarah people don't use things like these? I wonder if BBC has the guts to protest and risk that it will be aired worldwide.

HAHAHAH - this skit is hysterical! Poor #5 is Iceland sees it as making light of deaths but a real message is conveyed here - the radical dis-information and lack of objectivity that permeates the world's media, often causing people to make the wrong decision because they have the wrong or incomplete information. The hate and threats made against media that aren't anti-Israel enough are a testiment to that fact (check out France 24 video above). Check out a good article in WSJ regarding the Pal continued plight at the hands of the world: [ Link to page ]

YouTube removed the BBC farce clip? Is this the same YouTube that allows Aryan Nations videos that openly advocate racism against Jews? Since when did political humor get banned on YouTube, or any other legitimate site? It's time for a new YouTube-like website that does not discriminate against Jews. BBC makes a joke of Jewish pain and suffering, going so far as to ignore it, in favor of false Arab victims.

The BBC are probably upset about copyright issues regarding the use of their logos and the BBC World news tune!

Nice to hear that message boards around the world are being shut down for being so vile. Remember who primarily governs the attitudes of that medium: pseudo-spinmeisters, minor league pundits, and basement dwelling lunatics who can not seem to pull their pants up and get out their front door. They have no right to dictate public opinion.

It's quite disgusting to hear an Israeli studio audience laughing at the BBC skit and, apparently, at the suffering of Palestiian women and children in Gaza. How tasteless can you get? This newspaper seems to concern itself with how Israel can 'win the PR war'. This, certainly, is not the way.

It's interesting what the france24H news says: 1)Israel is insensitive because it ends up killing civilians even though it doesn't want to 2)hamas is insensitive because it fires rockets knowing it can't defend it's own population from Israel's response. Isn't there something missing? Such as the fact that hamass fires at civilians actually wanting to kill civilians?

Re: Eretz Nehederet - very disturbing that this is from a "popular" Israeli TV show. Whilst you may genuinely believe the invasion of Gaza is justified, it would seem prudent to appreciate that a large proportion of the world observe the Israeli actions with complete disbelief and horror and see it as totally disproportionate. Hence the mocking of the BBC attempts to report the situation despite the Israeli censorship is in poor taste. It is undignified and paints Israel in a poor light something as obscene as this be viewed as "popular".

Catherine: How hypocritical - in the extreme - can you get?
16  |   Tony R, USA, Sunday Jan 18, 2009
It's quite disgusting to read Catherine's comment, apparently embracing the murder of Israelis and Jews and ignoring the suffering of Israeli women and children in southern Israel from Gaza rockets. How tasteless can you get? Catherine and her pals seem to concern themselves with how they can destroy Israel and win the PR war against it. This, certainly, is not the way to real peace.

Please, ISRAEL, do not give up...you did it too often. It was a mistake to leave the 1967 borders! avi delatte, Turku finland, biolatte@kolumbus.fi

This is very sad. We see photos and videos on the news every day with dead children and women. It's very sad to see that some israeli choose to laugh at this. It is NOT a lie! We see the footage, from neutral newsreporters. Shame on you, Israel! I understand that you cannot live with the attacks from palestinean terrorists. But bombing Gaza is NOT the solution. The only thing Israel will get from this are more enemies, and more extremist people in the arab world becoming terrorists. The only way to make peace is by communicating and understanding. Both parties have to make an effort!

Laughing at other peoples misery and pain? Good one, you really got my sympathy now... Sosiopathic.

People of the world open your eyes. I cannot understand how people can be so blind. DISPROPORTIONATE, you have got to be kidding. How many more innocent people INTENTIONALLY have to die in Israel? Israel should set up all their weapons in school yards and peoples homes and maybe then they wont be accused of using DISPROPORTIONATE force. You people that use this kind of logic have got to be kidding the world and yourself. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would have been disproportionate is if Israel was at the receiving end and losing one single war. Then there would have a disproportionate wholesale slaughter of Israelis.
22  |   WAYNE stover in Denver, Saturday Feb 28, 2009
This is a message to the leaders of Israel. Please do not fall into the trap of a two state solution. Don't let the pressure of other world leaders force you into suicide. After all the lies / broken promises you are actually considering something so illogical. This sounds a little off but the only thing you will be doing is creating a massive revival in Israel caused by the threat of a being conquered by Islam. Two states means half of Jerusalem.

Larry Derfner is like all the other liberals. When people don't agree then they are not intelligent. I guess we are stupid when we give to the Palestinians and then they continue to murder innocent people and go back on all their promises. I hope and pray for Obama the rookie to listen and learn from Bibi. Wayne
