Koch's Comments: We need to stand up and shout 'No' Posted by Ed Koch
Comments: 28
A year ago, on October 9, 2008, I sent a joint letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. I wrote:
Mr. Paulson never responded to my letter. Ben Bernanke did. On October 16, 2008, he wrote:
On July 29, 2009, I wrote to Bernanke again, stating that I hoped and expected President Obama would reappoint him as chairman. I also asked: Would you agree that your not requiring banks receiving TARP funds to make loans in accordance with federal reserve regulations so as to provide the liquidity that you were and are seeking was in error?" To date he has not responded. We still don't have full liquidity. Even worse, many of the firms securing TARP funds did not fulfill their mission as lenders. Instead, they used TARP funds for investment purposes and became even richer than they were before the debacle they were responsible for. Graham Bowley of The New York Times summed it all up in his article of October 17, 2009. He wrote:
Financial institutions are making huge profits as a result of having been saved by the taxpayers and TARP monies, and not having used those monies for lending purposes. They also know that our government still believes in the two axioms: "too big to fail" and "too big to jail." * * * The insurance companies, which last week told us that premiums would go up enormously under the Baucus-Obama comprehensive insurance proposal, are being threatened by the president. The Times of October 18 reports:
The insurance companies are being threatened for telling what in all probability is the truth, since they control the premiums to be charged. If former president George W. Bush had made these threats, he likely would have been accused of making an enemies list. Apparently president Obama is capable of compiling an enemies list. Look at what the Obama administration is doing to Fox News Channel, which forcefully disagrees with the Obama insurance proposal. The administration is trying to pressure Fox into changing its coverage of Obama. The White House is saying that Fox is not a news station, thereby raising the specter of a licensing challenge. Our freedom of speech is in danger here. Other television and radio licensees should jump to the defense of Fox, and some have. When those in power seek to intimidate opponents, it is essential that the rest of us stand up and shout, 'No, you can't do this.' Speaking truth to those in power is essential if we are to preserve our liberties. Indeed, why hasn't Obama sought long before to end the insurance industry's exemption from anti-trust laws? Why haven't he and the Congress pressed to allow consumers to cross state lines in purchasing insurance policies? Why haven't he and the Congress supported allowing volume discounts for Medicare? And why haven't he and the Congress moved for tort reform? The Congressional Budget Office has said that action would save $54 billion over a ten-year period. Many would say Obama and Congress haven't taken action because of campaign contributions. If that's true - and I believe it to be true - it is shameful.

Mr Koch,
I enjoy reading your comments. As a middle class American couple who is on the late end of raising 4 children, my wife and I know only to well that we are not" to big to fail". The failure of our govt to protect our best interest has resulted in the dissipation of all we have worked for for the last 22 years. We feel we have no voice, we dont trust any politician, and dont believe shouting no will have any effect in a corrupt govt. Once the middle class is erased, balance is lost, and we spin out of control, the only cure will be revolution

After World War Two Great Britain made a decision to protect its parliamentary democracy rather than take on the features of a corrupt dictatorship in order to keep its empire together. After the Persian Gulf War of 1991 the United States began encouraging democracy and trying to be a steadying influence. However, there are risks involved, and the wreckage of America's supply lines is one of them. Being that democracy is America's true intention, [and it is] we must build on that foundation and unite the Anglo - American democracies in order to create the balance in our lives that we all need.

THE DECLINE & FALL OF ROMAN'S EMPIRE The pope started the Dark Ages in 325 A.D. by abandoning the NAME [ Jesus, Acts 2:38 ] and watering down the FAITH. [ Rev. 2:12-16 ] Having a school of piranhas nibbling on your toes can have the same effect as being chomped on by a shark. Occasional massive earthquakes levelled cities & intricately assembled buildings built in lowland areas collapsed in floods. The Goths & Vandals who sacked Rome were led by former army officers from along the empire's frontiers. Attila the Hun's army filled any vacuum. Original purposes were lost. Rome became a junk yard.

Bad leaders flog forgeries and gullible dupes by them. We have to live within our means. The worship of horsepower and gasoline addictions activated the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse in 1905. That was the year Japan defeated Russia. By 1941 Japan had subdued the fourth part of the earth. [ 1 out of 4 of the world's population. ] America defeated Japan in 1945 by using the atomic bomb. 1905 + 40 = 1945. [ 40 years is one generation ] The retail business makes most of its profit at Xmas time. The Chinese military is financed by the world system's retail industry. Santa Clause finances the dragon.

BASELESS HATREDS AND USELESS INFORMATION INTERFERES WITH A DUMPSTER DIVER'S THOUGHT PROCESS. HE HAS TO BE WILLING TO DIVE DEEP IF HE WANTS TO GET AT SATURDAY NIGHT'S BARGAINS. Hitler's objective was to upgrade the dumpster diver to ''professional staus.'' [which he did] The objective of Ho Chi Minh and general Giap of North Viet Nam was to sacrifice enough Vietnamese [ 3 million in 60 years ] on the altars of Moloch [ where they baptize by fire ] in order to make themselves worthy of Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. [ a cold beer on a hot day ] and a clean room at a properly run Hilton hotel.

Mayor Koch, I applaud your will to stand up and speak the truth. What is happening in the US today is frightening to many people. The level of intimidation by Obama against the media, industry, and financial institutions, and, the attempt to usurp control is only matched in recent history by the likes of Hugo Chavez. We need more people of your stature to stand up, speak out, and reign in these extreme forces. Thank you!!!!!

Is this the same Ed Koch who urged Jews to vote for Obama? Like Marty Peretz and Allen Dershowitz, Koch now whistles a different tune. Too bad their liberal ideology blinded these influential shapers of Jewish opinion when it really mattered.

Koch has no one to blame but himself when it comes to Obama's policies. Koch supported him, even though it was obvious from his positions and associates that Obama was either an extreme liberal or socialist. Thanks, Ed, for helping to mess up the country.

With all due respect Mr. Koch, what on Earth makes you think Bernake should care about or give one iota about what you "think?" And what makes you "think" Obama cares about anything other than his SOCIALIST agenda? There has been little evidence to the contrary. But objectivity is required to SEE that. WAKE UP!

as #6, Sandy, put it. You seem to be having an eye-opening. From a lock-step Democrat, a true believer in the Messiah, you now write like the woman scorned. Are you finally realizing that Obama and his henchmen, operate behind closed doors, with a nefarious goal? All others will have the door slammed in their face. Yes, He is very transparent. I suggest reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, you will see a mirror of what is happening. Where is John Galt? We need him now, before there is total disaster. Keep an eye on attempts to change Presedential term limits.

Obama is the Hugo Chaveze of America. This is a fact Americans must face before it is too late to stop his power grab and campaign of demonization against all those who stand against his vile agenda. Obama's enemies list so far includes: Fox News, the Chamber of Commerce, Rush Limbaugh, the Zionist Organization of America and countless others. Obama's enemies are not bad people and organizations. On the contrary, they are patriotic people and organizations whose only sin is standing up to Obama's assault on freedom and democracy. America must stand strong against Obama.

No need to define "credit worthy" -- only to require that the funds or a certain amount of them be lent and that what is not lent must be held and not used in any way for any other purpose whatsoever.
I will bet that the banks would need ... about .... 5 seconds to define the term in a way that worked.
I might be pessimistic - it would probably take them about 2 seconds.

Dear Mr. Mayor:
You come to the table too late and with too little. Early on in the campaign, many of us on these blogs warned about the Egomaniac currently in the White House. Your voice in support of us may have been of some help then. Now, I'm afraid we will watch our country go down the drain in a sea of socialism.

We Native Americans were by far better off before you christians stole our land by genocide and then elected this Obama-nation. Take your christianity, your slaves, and your hateful culture back to Europe. Return our lands and the nearly ONE QUADRILLION dollars of Native American money which your greedy, irresponsible and corrupt government has taken from us and leave!

When Madoff refers to Mary Shapiro, the head of the SEC, as his "dearest friend", while Bennie-the-Banker refuses to disclose where he sent 2 TRILLION American dollars, it's obvious we've been "had". the fat cats are eating us alive, and want to be praised for their financial cannibalism.

I am not as negitive as many in here, but we better straighten out this mess we are in (USA) at home and abroad. Is Obama really the Anti Christ?..I'm Jewish, I dont even believe in Jesus ( a nice Jewish boychick). But its this DIVISION in the USA that bothers me. extreme Left vs Right with most of us in the "Middle." I thought that winning WW2 would solve everything...boy was I wrong! HOW MANY TURKEYS MUST WE FLOG IN ORDER TO MILK THE CASH COW? When there is a clash of civilizations we may have to flog a forgery for awhile, but we should try to minimize it, and be content to milk the cash cow for everything we can. When the funnies take over the front pages people have traditionally looked to crazy glue and juicy fruit for all the answers. A dupe is the sum total of his delusions, and he's only respected if he knows enough to keep his big, fat mouth shut. There's no learning period with a real folly. Sham towers and ready - made ruins employ people and annoy neighbours.

Ed, Am I reading these comments correctly? You actually supported this Marxist before the election? I wouldn't know; I wasn't here. But I am surprised. I had always thought you were sharper than that; that you were capable of recognizing a two-bit huckster when you saw him. Maybe, you've slowed down a bit, Ed; got sucked in to all that Bush Derangement Syndrome crap and could no longer tell your head from your elbow. Not to worry, Ed. We'll take her back. This is America, after all. It's just because of guys like you it could take a little time.

As so many here have written, your complaints now are moot. When we all complained about BO being a super lefty, socialist, you & 63 million other stupes bought him lock, stock and barrel. Now you have buyers remorse? Choob Zer im Bood....Mr. Mayor Koch. Bush stunk, McLame was a miserable choice, so now we have this character. It seems that me & the other 58 million who voted against BO were more astute than you. Isnt that amazing? We will take your opinions henceforth with a large grain of SALT.

Dear Mr. Kosh, While I have never written either Mr. Paulson or Bernanke I am aware that 4 US international banks own approximately 80-90% of the global debt exposure most of which is in derivatives. Inorder to correct this situation it is necessary to create investment vehicles to off-load these derivatives onto. Such entities need to function as ownership conjugates using a predetermined investment structure to bijitively provide a level of transparency to the markets for a particular derivative credit and alternately a holomorphic structure for when the debt is due. (p1)
23 |
Chris USA,

Each investment entity ideally would be a holding bank for a particular financial derivative that consists of nonperforming debt within a global currency base. Each derivative must be assigned a time expiration control when it is transferred to the holding bank with sufficent time for the markets to respond to both the credit and debt aspects. Since conjugants are composed of real and imaginary components it is possible to mathematically represent credit and debt as real and imaginary fungibles. This bijitive property of conjugants (a 1 for 1 correspondence) also allows indirect monitoring (p2)

Chris USA,

of host government investments as well as debt payments since derivatives typically follow a Taylor Series. Thus every central bank must be online with this program since all banks globally must be expressely prohibited from transacting directly with these nonperforming derivatives (i.e. counterparty risk etc.). By exclusively managing these debt instruments with holding banks each central bank can control its currency exposure and ensure these insruments are used exclusively to generate job growth. Banks, governments and other institutions have indirect access through the holding banks. (p3)

I have been to distracted lately to correspond with either Mr. Geithner or Mr. Bernanke so feel free to ask them about this citizen's initiative I was preparing for US Senator Levin. I have a little too much on my plate at the moment. (p4)
26 |
Chris USA,
Sunday Nov 01, 2009
The problem as it currently stands is that these 4 financial institutions each own so much debt that they can iindividually control the global derivative markets with an individual transaction from any of the 4 banks. What that means is that they have no one to sell to so they are forced to speculate in the global markets inorder to service this debt. While this is certainly problematic it is by no means the end of the US dollar - if my citizen's proposal ever sees daylight. Just in case, you may want to invest in precious metals as a hedge like China, and the SWFs are doing. (p5)

Chris USA,

What I suspect you do not realize is that there is a currency war going on beneath the political grandstanding. The 4 big banks and the US oil lobby are trying to subvert the US governmental authority to turn it into a huge debt collector, as Tom Ridge indirectly mentioned in his address in Great Britian as "cities of destruction in the US also". Watch for who is buying global mining reserves in US dollars and putting them idle and you will connect the dots. Obama is doing what is required to support the dollar and restore US industries - despite parasitic elements which oppose this. (p6)
