Despite the dark mood ushered in by the tragic events of the past three harrowing nights and the strongly condemnable dastardly attacks by the cowards of the narrow-alleys of humanity's bigoted lot on India's gateway of world trade - Mumbai, I remain thankful for many things. First among them is India's strong leadership exemplified by the inspiring and forthright speech by Sardar Manmohan Singh - our beloved Prime Minister!

It is quite easy for anybody - journalists and political commentators in the confines of their cozy drawing rooms, the opposition, heads of states and heads of intelligence - to criticize the rescue operations carried out by Indian forces and denounce them as 'inaction' and  even 'over-action' - but could they have done it better?

India's citizens must unite over imagined divides of political shades, election manifestos, economic status and the like and look up to the government of India as one nation: In an era filled with troubled times and uncertainty looming large over the fate of this most hospitable nation's ties with a neighboring country, considered a hostile nation with a growing population who adheres to an increasingly intolerant stream of Islam and which has been accused of providing shelter for fugitives from International Law, Indians should be thankful for our great Democracy and adhere to the path of unity and solidarity

On Thanksgiving week-end 2008, I would humbly like to thank the following:

I. The government of India:

Under the greatest provocation, you wielded your position with an utmost sense of dignity and with a purposeful result-oriented action saved the lives of innumerable guests and visitors from the world . I am sure that the turning down of offers from the US, Israel and the UK to send in their own rescue teams was a point well made and should be viewed in contrast to the retraction of the offer made by the Pakistani PM to send the head of the ISI to 'assist in the post-operation investigations.'

II.  Soldiers of India:

These bravest soldiers [policemen, commandos, army soldiers, para-military forces and firemen] went into the heart of an urban war zone and showed to the world at large that it is in fact these unsung, modest, anonymous soldiers of peace that deserve all tags of greatness, patriotism and heroism - by any yardstick of measurement.

III. Civilians on the street :

It was the design of the perpetrators of evil to create total pandemonium and halt all life on the street by instilling fear and havoc amongst the people on India. Little did they bargain for the tremendous maturity exhibited by India's citizens who are more faithful, loyal and patriotic than those of the 'infidels'. Thank you G-d for a very sensible public psyche.

IV. Fellow human beings :

It is no coincidence that the entire world was aghast at the manner in which the terrorists sought to single out American, British and Israeli guests on Indian soil to display their callousness and disrespect towards the so-called 'War on Terror' declared to have been won by the USA.

Americans, Brits, Israelis and every right-thinking individual in other countries situated across the globe were of one voice, one thought and one in their absolute support, sympathy and empathy of India's approach to dealing with the deadly assault on its soil.

V.  Technological excellence:

A singularly interesting feature of the entire unsavory episode was the use of technology by the terrorists who instigated and launched such a tirade against all of humanity. But technological advantages were also ably put to use by India, so much so that many of the hostages had reached their homelands even as the brave soldiers were still battling the terrorists on site. Technological use also helped intercept the ships which had been engaged to take the criminals back to their suspected home-base - Pakistan.

Also, the efficient manner in which the entire operation's history, conspirators' shades and whole black-tale was extracted from the captured terrorist speaks volumes of the efficacy and expertise of technology being put to use by a dedicated government [even while the Opposition's warhorses remain silent and uninterfering, not letting nosy busybodies shout hoarse about weaknesses of any particular set of individuals wielding the baton of power and while a supposedly eager-beaver horde of press-reporters remain docile and restrained in shooting off their so-called breaking-stories and prying into the whole confidentiality of any such high-risk situation]

If India, a 'Third-World' Nation can make use of such technology and approaches, the US , the UK and Israel - who enjoys the highest of technological prowess including spy/defense satellites which can zoom into any nook and corner and report the English/Hebrew translation of any language in which anything is being spoken or written, even behind curtains or closed-doors, in a minute's time-frame -can certainly terminate terrorists in no time at all - whether they be holed up in remote ravines, caves or fortified villas on the French Riviera.

I am confident that this wake-up call of unimagined proportions and multi-dimensional ramifications shall awaken the US, the UK and Israel to no longer use Pakistan as a 'stick' against Non-Aligned India, even while dangling Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as a 'carrot' to this peace-loving, democratic nation.

Enough is enough.

On this Thanksgiving week-end, I would like to humbly emphasize the point that let us all [each and everyone of us all] not just be thankful to our loved ones only during Thanksgiving Day, but throughout the years, each and every day.

Guest blogger Pamarty tells us of the horrible events in Mumbai points out the seriousness of this assault on the "free world" It is WW3, only declared by radical Islamists. Murdering innocent people is a tactic to create havoc among the non suspecting populace, but now adding to their horrific agenda "commercial terrorism"! This sends shock waves to our already weak world economy. Look who these murderers attcked in Mumbai, hotels where tourists stay, a hospital (showing their crocodile mind), a railway station and a Jewish house reminding Israel that killing Jews is still a priority!

Oh dear Mr. Ventkatamarana I opened your blog anticipating a condemnation of islam and the ongoing slaughters it commits in the name of 'peace.' More convoluted distraction from the truth--which is indeed, this is another wake up call, let us see if any misguided democratic westerner finally 'gets' what islam is really about?

The Government of India indeed did the right thing. And did it well. They didn't negotiate with these terrorists who believed they would. And they did not promise them anything. They went right to the job of cleaning up the mess. Even though it cost some lives, it would have cost so much more had India gave into their demands. I hope Islam takes this as a sign that the world is losing patience with them and are willing to sacrifice some lives to put a stop to their nonsense. The world had better take a lesson in this and be prepared to react the same. Don't give in to them!

I have a new admiration for India. They just suffered their own 9/11. Contrary to what the armchair warriors have been saying on TV, they have handled the crisis with more clear headedness and skill than the US or Israeli government did. (Does anyone remember George Bush reading 'My Pet Goat' and looking like a dear in the headlights? How about Olmert's promise to finish off Hizballah?) The scourge of Islamist terror will end sooner if we stop lecturing Indians and start listening to them.

With all google earth type softwares & Abilities to intercept messages, give warnings about future attacks etc.. I feel BIG BOSSES are aware of what is happening at which place & who is doing it & who is where. Rest all are manipulations to get the things as they want. Swiss Banks type Banks are allowed to run their show to hide monetary transactions. Otherewise why all countries do not have swiss bank type banks for common man? I believe fight between Roman Church & Church of England is still on. Rest are all "other Black & white Pawns & bishops & elephants" in the game.

Long standing Goodwill between the Peace-loving Indian Nation and Great Nations like Israel and America,England cannot be shattered by evil terrorists. The action -taken by India in Response to the repeated attacks was matute and wise.Mr.Pamarty is right in thanking all whom he listed. An Excellent Work - whichever Nation we belong to ,all are facing the brunt of Enemies of Life!Strong Countries like the USA,UK,ISRAEL cannot escape responsibility for letting Pakistan be the hideout or breeding-ground for terrorism.WAKE-UP PLEASE .It is time to stop the Satan playing with the World.

It is an eye-opening Article which surely but silently must succeed in awakening the Giants in deep Slumber and Good Senses of all good folk across the globe. As one working with the UN on ensuring PEACE,AMITY,GOODWILL among all peoples of the world, I congratulate you Mr.Pamarty Venkataramana for clean-sweeping the cobwebs in the mindset and thinking-pattern of wORLD AT LARge -they all say they are religious but does any religion support killings and murder of innocents?if it does, it is no religion but a perversion of true religion.KEEP ENLIGHTENING,SIR.World needs wise men now.

India did what ever it could,at the time that this happened. When you live in a peaceful country like India, you are not ready for the type of terror that was inflicted on them.India is an enchanting place warts and all.I lived in India as a child for 4 years, and have fond memories of the place. These terrorists belong to blood thirsty death cults, armed with modern weapons, who answer to no one. They have forced us to change how we live our lives. From easy going ,to security minded.

After reading the ' Entre ' and readers comments, I felt like throwing up..Mr. Parmaty, as all Indians, is given to bombastic verbiage that is so overly dramatic..The government of India is absolutely clueless and is even complicit as they are at the vanguard of go-easy-on-the-terrorists policy, for the sake of garnering Muslim votes..what Technological excellence is he talking about..if that were the case, they should have beamed up all the hostages..I dont want to go on a rant, as I am tired of posting rejoinders to these mindless and puerile blather

Wake Up ,Israel.Do not await action from USA as UK does .Do not let soft-nations like India be landmines for your Missonaries and Faith.Right Mr.Pamarty Venkataramana-World is one,so no one country must be permitted to hold us all to ransom .Israel is free to decide upon retributive-action against those who butcher its peoples. Is it not a War-crime in Mumbai? Was it a case of bank-robbery or invasion of India,Isarel,Britain and USA nationals who were singled out -jointly,by the invaders from Pakistan ?Shameful,Sad that International community is going soft on such Warmongers.May all Wake UP

It's dangerous for Chabad, Brooklyn to go it alone the world over. Let them relocate to Israel where they face in daily prayers and chant, next year in Jerusalem.

hEY kRIS!Its a whole new world now mate!Don't you recall how thousands of Indians were killed in the 9/11 attack on New York?22 Americans lost lives in Mumbai Attack.Lives are precious -whatever Nationality.Lets not grudge their meticulous and careful operation -you did not get an opportunity to either stop the 9/11 -attack or nab the Terrorists holed up in Pakistan/Afganishtan .Right?I think he refers to the WORLD as one family of humans -not as indians or non-americans or israelis.Technology rules mate.Language has several meanings-nothing wrong in expressions used.Chill .stop the terrorists

I agree with MR. Venkataramana. I think now its time for US,UK,Israel and India to come together and take serious action against countries like Pakistan which are openly supporting terrorism but always keep denying.

I don't think we've woken up to this reality.Too much is at stake, too many human lives have been lost and the bold nature of the terror-acts..If you go to LashkarHQ there, it's a 75-acre campus, and there's an Islamic university and two schools and a hospital. So, they've turned it into an open door for young jihadists from all over the world who are interested in exploring militant Islam and interesting in joining the Lashkar to go there and get the training.ISRAEL is clearly their main co-target since USA anyway pampers them with aid-monies and soft-talking,in fear?WAKE UP ISREAL,USA,UK

I,as an Israeli, fully understand what prevents India from overtly embracing Israel as a friend and ally. What prevents you from dolng so is your dependence on the Muslim world for your fuel ,your dependence on Russia for your arms and an understandable need to placate the world's second largest Muslim population which resides in your midst.Israel and India gained independence from Britain and both became viable democratic states with the same problems of territory, terror and substantial internal populations which identify, to a greater or lesser extent ,with our enemies. . .
