No one will 'rape' Israel
US President George W. Bush arrived in Israel today for a historic visit and I for one am very nervous. I am nervous not because I think he has any bad intentions but rather because I believe his Israeli counterparts do. A couple of weeks ago, Israel was betrayed by one of our own in front of the whole world. On September 10, at a formal dinner hosted by America's Ambassador to Israel, Ha'aretz editor David Landau sold our country out to the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. In his fanatic rant, Landau called Israel a "failed state" and appealed to have the US "rape Israel"m forcing her into submission by requiring a US- imposed settlement and humiliating us in front of the entire world. This Thanksgiving, Olmert is the Turkey
Ehud Olmert recently tried to explain to me that in his position as Prime Minister, there are pressures and demands put upon him that the public could not possibly understand. In an attempt to justify his actions leading up to the Annapolis conference, he said that pressure from America forced him to make concessions. Despite this excuse, America cannot be blamed for Israel's mistakes in pursuing a failed policy for peace. Rabin, Beilin and Peres facilitated the Oslo nightmare. Similarly, America cannot be blamed for the disengagement. When Ariel Sharon proposed unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, President Bush was disappointed. He had made it clear that there would be no concessions on Israel's part until there was a complete cessation of terrorism. This Thanksgiving, Olmert is the TurkeyToday is the American holiday of Thanksgiving. I am thankful for the miracle of the existence of a Jewish state, for our freedom and for all that G-d has blessed us with. The Israeli initiativeIsrael has made painful concessions for security but despite our efforts, the Israeli-Arab conflict rages on. The Israeli Initiative
"The dangerous Annapolis Conference", I told PM Olmert during our meeting on Monday, "is your personal initiative and not President Bushs. Im presenting you The Israeli Initiative, so that we all have a ready alternative, after Annapolis will inevitably fail." Since the establishment of the State of Israel, we have longed for peace with our Arab neighbors. We dream of a day when we can devote our efforts not to war and basic survival but rather towards the growth and prosperity of our country. Israel has made painful concessions for security but despite our efforts, the Israeli-Arab conflict rages on. The Oslo Accords backfired. The withdrawal from Gaza strengthened our enemies and lead them to believe that terrorism works. Now the government is planning to divide Jerusalem and create a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria. Our capitulations, withdrawals and disengagements have resulted in bloodshed and an emboldened enemy. Hamas controls Gaza, Kassam rockets rain down on the residents of Sderot, and Hizbullah has directed their missiles towards Haifa. 'Then they said among the nations'It is important to build good relations with Christian communities, with their spiritual leaders and political representatives. We are not building these relations only to be Politically Correct. Tisha Be'Av tragediesThis Tisha Be'Av, I pray that we as a collective state will be humble enough to learn from the tragic mistakes we have seen this prime minister and his government make. It's the Palestinian state, stupid!Just as aspirin temporarily masks the pain of an infected tooth, the propagation of the false hope of a Palestinian state only prolongs the bloodshed and violence in our region. Solve the Palestinian refugee problemDo not subjugate the Palestinian refugees to fifty-nine more years of suffering with the illusion that they have the right to return. |
