Sweden's foreign minister, Carl Bildt, has refused to condemn a "blood libel" published by one of Sweden's leading newspapers, Aftonbladet. The article outrageously claims that Jewish soldiers in Israel killed Palestinians to harvest their organs.

According to the New York Times, the writer of the article, Donald Bostrom, has acknowledged that "he has no idea whether the accusations are true." Yet a widely-read Swedish newspaper was prepared to publish this undocumented and highly volatile accusation without requiring its author to present any credible evidence.

This accusation is reminiscent of the medieval blood libels that falsely accused Jews of killing Christian children to use their blood for religious rituals.

Not only has foreign minister Bildt refused to issue to a personal condemnation of the current "organ libel," his foreign ministry explicitly disavowed the denunciation issued by Sweden's Ambassador to Israel, who had called the article "shocking and appalling."

In a self-righteous statement, Mr. Bildt claimed that condemnation of the article would be inappropriate because freedom of expression is a part of the Swedish Constitution.

This is a bogus and ignorant argument, as anyone who understands freedom of speech will attest. I have devoted much of my life to defending freedom of speech, and consider myself something of an expert on the matter. Nobody is talking about censoring the Swedish press or imprisoning the writer of the absurd article.

What we are talking about is expanding the marketplace of ideas to include a completely warranted condemnation of sloppy journalism and outrageous accusations that foment anti-Semitism in Sweden, which is already on the rise. Freedom of speech is based on an open and vibrant marketplace of ideas. No journalist is immune from criticism for bigotry and defamation, even from high ranking government officials.

Recall that virtually every government official in Europe went out of their way to condemn the perfectly innocent cartoons that offended some Muslims by portraying Mohammed. (More recently, the Yale Press withdrew these cartoons and other classic art depicting Mohammed out of fear of violent reaction.)

Without getting into the business of comparative offensiveness, no reasonable person could argue that depicting a long-dead religious figure comes anywhere close to falsely accusing contemporary Jews of murdering innocent Palestinians to steal their organs.

The reality is that the Swedish government, long known for its cowardice, simply does not want to get into a fight with the Muslim world, much like it didn't want to get into a fight with the Nazis during the Second World War.

Sweden is perfectly willing to sell out the Jews in the name of neutrality, or in this case, in the false name of freedom of expression. Its silence is beneath contempt.

I am offended by Sweden's craven complicity with evil not only as a Jew, but also as a strong defender of freedom of speech. Freedom of speech carries with it certain obligations, one of which is to condemn false speech. The best answer to false speech is not censorship, it is truthfulness.

By remaining silent in the face of the bigoted falsities contained in the Aftonbladet article, the Swedish foreign minister inevitably creates the impression that he sympathizes with the writer, and perhaps even with his conclusions.

Mr. Bildt, too, has freedom of speech, which he has exercised on many occasions.

By choosing not to exercise it on this occasion - or even worse, by exercising it to criticize the Swedish Ambassador to Israel for her condemnation of the article - Bildt becomes a facilitator of bigotry. He should be ashamed of himself. His country should be ashamed of him.

And if his country is not ashamed of him, then every decent person in the world should be ashamed of Sweden.

Silence in the face of evil is not an option. As Edmund Burke reminded us many years ago:  "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." To that I may add, "or say nothing."

Prof Dershowitz, The Israeli Hebrew paper Ma`ariv reported the other day that the same author, Donald Bostrom, had published a book back in 2001 that contained some of the same libelous "organ harvesting" charges as are found in his recent article. This book, entitled Inshallah, was subsidized by the Swedish foreign ministry. So the problem is not merely that Bildt now refuses to condemn the offensive article but that his ministry financed publication of similar charges eight years ago. Hence it appears that Sweden's foreign ministry thought that it had an interest in publshing such libels

as usual, there is one standard for things written about Israel and another for things written about the rest of the world: what concerns the rest of the world, there is freedom of speech, what concerns Israel or the Jews things can only be said/written as long as they do not endanger Israel or the Jews. I remember how strongly Dershowitz defended the right of the Danish newspaper to print the cartoons, in the name of freedom of speech, obviously, and the marketplace of ideas. Stop making yourself ridiculous, Mr. Dershowitz. You are a shame for the Jewish people!
3  |   Mark Roth USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Crazy, insulting and wildly inaccurate things are published in the US media every day. Can Mr. Dershowitz or anyone else cite one instance of the U.S. government publicly and officially condemning any one of them?
4  |   daat y, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Well said and to the point.Tell our Haaretz people who are blaming Israel for talking and acting against this blood libel.
5  |   David M USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
The Swedish foreign minister will not condemn this blood libel because he likely believes and supports it. Sweden supported nazi Germany during World War II and nazi propaganda was widely distributed in Sweden during that time. Nothing has changed since then. The Swedish government was an enthusiastic supporter of nazi Germany and was disappointed when the war ended. It was a profitable time for Sweden. It is no surprise that Swden's foreign minister will not condemn nazi style lies about Israel. It is to be expected from him and his ilk.
6  |   Jerry USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Please go after the author of organ-harvest libels , not the Swedish State. Governments should NOT issue public condemnations of every idiotic statement penned within their borders, even against Jews. Jettison the post-Holocaust assumption of Jewish exceptionalism. "We Jews have been so uniquely victimized by goyim (blood libels, pogroms, ovens) that every privately penned libel must be publicly condemned by governments." Arabs learned and inverted this victim dirge. Palestinians are the new victims-in-chief. Jewish demand for official public guilt-trips can and has boomeranged.
7  |   Nic, Sweden, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Mr Dershowitz, it's interesting and fascinating that you, as self-appointed expert, make use of freedom of speech to ask Swedes to be ashamed of FM Bildt and, if we are not, the World should be ashamed of Sweden. "the Swedish government, long known for its cowardice," "Sweden is perfectly willing to sell out the Jews in the name of neutrality," "the Swedish foreign minister inevitably creates the impression that he sympathizes with the writer, and perhaps even with his conclusions." It doesn't get more biased and out of proportions. Mr Dershowitz, Bigotry is your middle name.
8  |   joe smith, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Cold hearted SWEDES they live in a frozen wasteland ugly looking people bizarre looking really,
9  |   Jimmy King, Los Angeles, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
I agree that any accusation by a journalist should be factual and proven. But the worldwide Israeli campaign to shut down the Swedish press and stir up tension between international communities over this article is being blown way out of proportion. It is also showing how cohesive, vindictive and powerful worldwide Jewry is in shutting down individuals, companies, corporations across the globe if they have a negative, disagreement or a valid arguement to make against Israel. Again, I don't support sensational articles as this one claims, let them do their investigation and prove the facts.
10  |   Jo Ellen Davey Cohen Chicago, Illinois, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Swedish foreign minister Bildt will not offer any contrition regarding the blood libel charge. His rhetorical declarations are understood in the Muslim world as a show of support for the Palestinian-Hamas 'struggle' against Israel. Like Jimmy Carter, Bildt is seen as a heroic figure to Palestinians. Sweden continues to exhibit self-righteous contempt for the Israel Defense Forces, as the primary target of wrath. No surprises here. The freedom of expression of the Swedish Constitution allows for the good people of Sweden to express their 'great affinity' for Palestinian-Hamas terrorism.
11  |   isaac, New Jersey, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
odd coincidence that a rabbi is indicted for trading in organs from Israel.
12  |   LK, Geneva, Switzerland, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Check the recent spikes in the Bostrom/Bildt bank accounts - people like this, much like Jimmy Carter, are usually getting paid for their hate mongering.
13  |   Hadar USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
I firmly agree with everything written here. This whole case just reminds me of something that happened to an Israeli soldier a few years ago. There was a news program about a family who refused to bury their soldier son since they suspected foul play. The family had the coffin in their livingroom until they could find someone to inspect the body. An expert was brought in from overseas and discovered that the organs of their son were removed before he was to be buried. I consider myself to be right wing Israeli, though this current scandal haunts me. G-d forbid this to be really happening.
14  |   JTB Detroit, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Exactly A.L. The double-standard 'watch' should be focused on Israel's patent objections to anything said negatively about them, whether in jest or by some moronic newspaper. To call this 'libel' is ludicrous; anyone with half a brain would know that Israel wouldnt do such ridiculous things. But no, since it was not properly aligned with the faultless and perfect Israel, some feel the need(and the unjustified right) to supress others rights in the name of their own 'honor'(sic.) So what is Israel's response to defamy? Defame and slander back! It's the way God wants it!
15  |   Steve, Boston, MA USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
A simple example of the difference between free speech and slander and libel: Publishing a cartoon of the Swedish Prime Minister raping Swedish taxpayers is free speech. Publishing an article saying he rapes little boys is libel.
16  |   Robert F USA, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Does Sweden realize the danger it is in from Moslem "occupation"? Check out Malmo! As for the "accusations" of organ stealing, what else is new...we Jews have been accused of everything evil by these sick, liar Jew haters. If the Swedes dont watch it, soon their beautiful blond, blued girls will have dark hair, brown eyes and a swarthy face. Sad! As for anyone saying lies...how's this one.."Jesus was really Swedish"..I saw his picture at the YMCA..blond, blue eyes very Aryran looking! Too be fair..there are wonderful Swedes who support Israel..God bless them. I hope they vote!
17  |   Martin K, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Let it go, folks. While I agree with you that the article was indeed slanderous, your reaction has been out of proportion and not based on the article itself. Especially in these days, when the term "anti-semitism" is loosing its rhetorical power due to being spouted all too often, your reaction and the comments of your foreign minister sound like unbalanced childish accusations against whole countries. According to Lieberman, my nation Norway is anti-semitic for marking Knut Hamsuns jubilee. We all just shake out heads and turn away.
18  |   Mats Wikfors, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Thank you, mr Dershowitz, for this article. Let me also confirm that it was reported two days ago that Sweden's general prosecutor (JK Göran Lambertz), several constitutional experts including Pr. Thomas Bull of Uppsala University, Sweden and one of Swedens's biggest publicists, the Editor-in-Chief of one of Sweden's most respectable dailys, Dagens Nyheter, confirmed that of course the government ministers (and the ambassador who is a representative of the government abroad) has the right to criticize the CONTENTS of an article (however not the decision to publish it).
19  |   Mats Wikfors, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
The purported prohibition in the Swedish constitution ("Tryckfrihetsförordningen")was a lie all along. Respectable lawyers in Constitutional Law in Sweden, including the General prosecutor (this may not be the correct English title for the "Lawyer of the State") have refuted the Governments's (and the President of the Journalists Union) who outrageousl and ignorantly (warranting dismissal in the case of the head of the journalists' union) statements. This ignorance must be pursued, as it is intolerable that they lied to the Swedish people about their "inability" to stand up to antisemitism.
20  |   Hillel - NYC, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Dear Mark, you never heard B. Hussein condemn the journalism of any major news network in the U.S.? Your response is just plain bizarre. #2, He is not claiming that the journalist has no right to say something stupid and dangerous. He is saying that one should not hide behind the canard of 'free speech' when offered an opportunity to speak out against pernicious and shoddy journalism. What are you talking about? Your rant is so off the wall that it can only be seen as the nascent mutterings from someone who is awakening from a drunken slumber.
21  |   Stan Goodman - Israel, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Poster A. L. betrays an almost unbelievable obtuseness in failing to understant the difference between the Swedish matter and the Danish cartoons. The point of the latter was that virtually all terrorism in the world is caused by Muslims, which is quite true. Musllims will agree that the clearest image for representing Islam is Muhammad. The Aftonbladet article was 100% lie. The two affairs have nothing in common. A. L. cannot be as dense as he pretends; instead, he (and others who have argued similarly) are attempting to defend the indefensible..
22  |   Peter Jerusalem, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
Freedom of speech... Watch the Joker Dershowitz support incitement.....against Moslems. [ Link to page ]
23  |   Jan L, Thursday Aug 27, 2009
PLEASE stop your aggressive accusations of Bildt. Bildt is a renowned peace broker from the foreign Jugoslavia. He is a friend of peace and everybody's equal value. The reason he cannot condemn the article is because he is part of the government in Sweden. He said that he disapproves of antisemitism but that he cannot take responsibility of what newspapers write. We have the "freedom of the written word" written into the constitution of Sweden. This is different from "freedom of speech". It means that no government in Sweden should have the right to try to control the media!!
24  |   jay, Friday Aug 28, 2009
If its fair to libel Jews and Israel, what will be next in Sweden? it seems to me that being "neutral" in WW2 was in fact taking the side of the Nazi's - Switzerland did this when it banked all the money for the Nazi regime to buy war goods and services and was anything but neutral. I wonder what the swedes are up to and why they would not defend a fellow member of the world of nations.
25  |   David J., Nassau County, NY, Friday Aug 28, 2009
to Mark Roth: "Crazy...and wildly inaccurate things are published in the US media every day. Can Mr. D....cite one instance of the US govt. publicly...condemning any one of them." --Mr. Roth has obviously not seen the condemnations of some media figures (Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, etc.) by Pres. Obama. It doesn't get any more "public and official" than that.
26  |   Jan, Australia, Friday Aug 28, 2009
No 3 Mr Roth, Mr Dershowitz's point IS that "'the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." .. "or say nothing".' That the US media isn't condemned for printing lies and libel doesn't make not condemning lies right! Libel is slander in Greek 'diabolos' or in English again 'devil'. And this particular lie is a dangerous one. This lie has deep resonance in the European and the Lutheran Scandinavian cultures, back before the days of Shakespeare. I know my ancestors were Scandinavian and Lutheran, I am glad that compassion prevailed over doctrine and Denmark's Jews found safety in Sweden.
27  |   L. Rose Canada/USA, Friday Aug 28, 2009
To #2 and 3 - Pres. Obama recently decried the "willful misrepresentations," "outright distortions" and "outrageous myths" circulating on the Internet, cable television and at town halls across the country (as per Washington Post) - and he was just talking about a Healthcare debate. Jews and Israelis are right to be concerned when unsubstantiated accusations are made about them - it's because history has shown they are made often and used as an excuse to hate/kill Jews even after those accusations prove false (Jenin 'massacre' lie, Al-Dura fraud, Israel-hit-UN School lie, etc)
28  |   Gnarlodious, Friday Aug 28, 2009
There is a point at which liberalism comes full circle and eats its own tail. Being so tolerant of outright meanness is just as bad as being mean.
29  |   SM, Friday Aug 28, 2009
So, based on your logic, every time the KKK or other right-wing group publishes false claims about Jews or other groups, the President of the United States should step forward and denounce its bigotry etc. I think he or she won't do anything other than spend all the time denouncing bigots. What matters is the existence of free press, which allows bigots to be denounced by any member of society. Don't expect the government to do your job!
30  |   B Kaman Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada, Friday Aug 28, 2009
Kol HaKavod to Mr. Dershowitz!! Your article is right on and it is our responsibility as Jews to stand together in condemning this terrible "organ libel". We must not be afraid of speaking the truth loud and clear! To say nothing and to do nothing one is guilty of the same act!!
31  |   Dr Gabriel Dekel, Friday Aug 28, 2009
Condemnation is one thing. What to do about that? If the Jewish leadership is not making announcement - I hope every Jew and supporters must boycott Swedish products. The intern et is a good place to start. Someone should build a site and list Swedish products.
32  |   Magnus Lindberg, Friday Aug 28, 2009
5# During the first years in the WW2 most small countries yielded to the Germans and thought they would crush them, during the war it changed and most swedes celebrated the defeat of the nazis This is a SAD story. Sad and stupid article by Aftonbladet but Boström has not violated any laws. Sad that the swedish governement do not take the opportunity to condemn antisemitism although not specifically trespassing the freedom of the press. Sad that so many jews think that the swedes are antisemitic and that things are generalized in this way. The question of race is not a big issue here as in US
33  |   Magnus Lindberg, Friday Aug 28, 2009
What I mean is that I can understand that Jews draw pararells to other sinister regimes based on racism BUT I can assure that the swedish majority do not support Aftonbladet or antisemitism. Actually getting a job in Sweden called David or Schlomo would be as easy as for other Swedes but called Mohammed could be a problem. So I think Islamofobia is an issue but generally Jews are not noticed as a special race, this race thinking is something that is much more common in the US or in South Africa or even Israel and I can understand that but it also explains the Israeli Swedish misunderstanding
34  |   Joel Schwartz ,Sweden, Friday Aug 28, 2009
As a Swede (I am not a Jew, even though my surname might suggest so) I can only express how sorry I am for this very shameful article and even more so for the lack of proper response from the Swedish government. Unfortunately the Israelis are easily and quickly blamed for all kinds of fabricated wrongs now a days, just as Jews always been. The Swedish left (Aftonbladet is Sweden's foremost leftist newspaper) is constantly flirting with Muslim forces loosing all perspective. I am afraid that also the political right now relents to this trend of anti-isrealism. But you have many friends still.
35  |   Adam, USA, Friday Aug 28, 2009
Mr. Dershowitz misses something. He is right when he states that Sweden's refusal to condemnt the article in question is bogus. But, Sweden found itself in a dilemma when Israeli government officials publicly demanded such a condemnation. Far more important that condemning an ugly rumor is the country's image and self-image as an independet subject. Under these circumstances it would have appeared that Sweden condemned this article becasue Israel told her to do so. Israeli clumsiness and arrogance forced Swedish Foreign Minister's hand and resulted in his refusal to condemnt the article.
36  |   shrinkDave USA, Friday Aug 28, 2009
Imagine: the New York Times prints an article accusing the Italian or French or Australian, army of harvesting the organs of Turkish, or North African immigrants. There is no doubt that there would be, at the least, a major upheaval of that publication, an apology by high ranking officials, and the end of careers. How about if the New York Times, or political officials refused to condemn such an article on the grounds of freedom of speach? I think that would be impossible, because New Yorkers, and Americans don't walk in lockstep with blood liblers.
37  |   Ben, Friday Aug 28, 2009
Mr Dershovitz is absolutly right! But accusation of Jews in blood libel appeared in sf film made by Harlan Elisson,Jew! Nobody reacted seriously!
38  |   Reuven, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
Allan Dershowitz, a legal scholar on freedom of speech, has eloquently penned the thoughts of any rational thinking person. I am not shocked at the actions of the Swedish government who sat by idly during World War II. Sweden has a history of cowardice and antisemitism that makes such unfounded accusations and capitulation to the new Muslim threat popular with the masses. I have a Jewish friend, a prominent judge, in dire need of a liver transplant, but has no recourse. I can't understand why he hasn't received a Palestinian organ. Maybe Aftonbladet can tell hime where to apply!
39  |   Martin ,New York, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
As usual Alan a very informative article. Since anti-semitism is rising in Sweden and rest of Europe where are all those so called human rights groups? When it comes to Israel and the Jews they remain silent. Many times Israel has helped the Palestinians including giving needed medical care and jobs. Instead of praising Israel these bigots condemn them. In fact none of these people or NGO'S have ever helped the Palestinians even once.
40  |   Marty, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
The best way to fight back is not to buy any products made in Sweden. When people are out of work any unable to feed there families then the government will have to change it ways.
41  |   J. Daniel, Miami, FL, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
Prof. Dershowitz is spot on in his legal and political analysis of this sad affair. How the Swedish leaders involved could be so foolish and obtuse to miss the opportunity to condemn this admittedly baseless propagation of the vicious blood libel boggles the mind. I had always had such a high, though apparently unwarranted, regard for the Swedes. To appease lunatic anti-Semites in the name of free speech when the entire Swedish government bent over backwards and apologized up and down over the prophet cartoon shows what hypocrites these folks are. Sleep with dogs, wake up with flees!
42  |   Gábor Fränkl, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
To ALL of our Swedish supporters! As I am in connection with a friend from Sweden, he assured me that all the malicious propaganda against the Swedish Democrats [sverigesdemocraterna] party - namely that they're racists and fascists - is a crude lie. They are rational people who juust want the good of their country and its real interests. They are anti-anti-Semites and pro-Israel big time! I've been personally assured of this. Please everyone in Sweden vote for this pary next year if you want the overall situation to change from bad to better. The political establishment has HIJACKED Sweden!!
43  |   Samuel, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
In Sweden there is a public athority established by the Swedish parliament that deals only with Holocaust remembrance. They published a book about the Holocaust, , “…Tell ye your children …” (P. Levine, S. Bruchfeldt), that was printed in 1,4 milion copies, and given away free of charge to households and schools in Sweden. The book was also translated into nine minority languages in Sweden - including arabic. All this was financed with tax money. Thats how nazi we are in Sweden.
44  |   samuel, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
The Swedish governement did NOT "bent over backwards and apologized up and down" over the prophet cartoons. However, the Swedish FM at the time forced a website showing the cartoons to close down. She thereby violated the Swedish constitution, and was sacked. So shut up J. Daniel. And how can you people get upset over the obvious lies in the Aftonbladet article, when half of all the comments in this forum contains lies about Sweden?
45  |   Erik, Sweden, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
Tabloid papers publish tabloid pieces! The hysterical reactions of the Israeli ultra right-wing government of the Aftonbladet article has less to do with substance and more with domestic political realities; instead of dealing with their real problems they blame everyone else for antisemitism. This is perhaps a cheap way to temporarily appease local opinion in Israel but might down the road lead to a North-Korean situation of self-imposed isolation.
46  |   Danny, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
All this talk about Sweden in WW2 is just stupid. Dont you get it? Sweden was stuck between Stalin and Hitler. Sweden has fought a dussin wars against Russia through history - no wonder the Swedish people was scared of the Soviet Union. Stalin killed more people than Hitler(, and Stalin was also a jew-killing anti-semite.) He invaded Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, and he attacked Finland. Sweden helped Finland a lot. When americans of today criticize the Swedish stand in WW2, they forget the behaviour of their nice friend in Moscow.
47  |   Howard in Canada, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
By 2050 Europe, Scandanavia and the UK will be 50% Moslem. The infrastructure is just being put in place now.
48  |   Reuven, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
Samuel, have you wonder WHY Sweden felt the need to establish a public authority and publish a book about Holocaust remembrance. Could it be because of the need to combat the problem of antisemitsim and Holocaust denial within Sweden? We can only judge Sweden by the actions of its government. It's refusal to condemn the blood libel against Jews in the interest of free speech while quashing publication of a political cartoon depicting Muhammed speaks volumes. You wonder why Jews are "upset over the obvious lies?" Such lies led to the persecution and deaths of millions of Jews for centuries.
49  |   StraightTalk, Jersey City USA, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
I urge American citizens to send their protests to the Swedish ambassador in Washington at "ambassaden.washington@foreign.ministry.se". Freedom of speech doesn't make anyone immune to criticism for moral, factual, or logical shortcomings. It is entirely reasonable to expect the Swedish government to condemn Aftonbladet for its shoddy journalism.
50  |   Sarah Jerusalem Israel, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
Erik in Sweden: "The hysterical reactions of the Israeli ultra right-wing government of the Aftonbladet article has less to do with substance and more with domestic political realities; instead of dealing with their real problems they blame everyone else for antisemitism. " WRONG! The Israeli government's reaction is driven by the outrage of ordinary people that Sweden, who proclaims itself so moral, so tolerant, so humane, would fail to condemn a baseless article designed to foment deadly hatred of Jews.
51  |   Susan, Kfar Saba, Saturday Aug 29, 2009
This blood libel is not joke. When the Mohammad al Dura firm became public, many Jews/Israelis were murdered in revenge suicide attacks by terrorists. Later, it was proven in a court in France that the film was bogus. It was doubtful that the boy even died. We know that the Pals lie, they make films we label "Paliwood" where they stage fake attacks by Israeli soldiers. You can see these films on You Tube. So these kinds of lies are very dangerous and they spread through Europe like cancer. This time our government called them on it and make them look like fools.

Futhermore, what those rabbis in NJ did was dispicable, but they didn't kill anybody. All of the donors were volunteers just looking to make some money. What would you do if you had a bad kidney and the waiting list was so long you could be dead before you get a kidney. You might just be willing to pay $160,000 to save your life.
