The leader of Hizbullah Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has now called for revenge against Israelis and Jews around the world, for the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh, which he claims was done by Israel.  It does not matter, of course, who actually pulled off the assassination. Israel and the Jews would be blamed by Hizbullah even if Syria had been responsible. Blame Israel and the Jews for everything is what Hizbullah always does. In the past, Hizbullah has taken revenge against what it claimed to be Israeli actions by murdering Jewish schoolchildren in Argentina. Once again it is threatening to attack innocent Jews around the world.

Yet some in the media describe this as a cycle of violence, thus suggesting moral equivalence between the targeting of a terrorist combatant responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians, and the random murder of innocent men, women and children who had absolutely nothing to do with the targeted killing of Imad Mughniyeh, but just happen to be Jewish.

Sheik Hassan Nasrallah's call for the killing of Jews around the world is nothing short of an incitement to genocide, or at least to mass murder. There is no moral equivalent between military action that targeted a terrorist combatant and the targeting of innocent civilians around the world, based on their religion. Until the media understands this crucial, moral and legal distinction, we will all be vulnerable to the genocidal revenge tactics of Hizbullah and other terrorist organizations.

We, Jews, have a long experience of being kept collectively responsible for whatever is wrong, or considered like that, beginning with the very crucifixion of Jesus...
In this case, however obviously not responsible, I feel deeply satisfied with the issue. Is that morally sufficient for condemninng me to death?

2  |   Yoel, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

We are doing what we are doing...never again!

3  |   Adrian - Israel, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

The media has managed to side step legal responsibility by talking in general terms. The media of today has totally rejected moral responsibility for the words it uses and chooses to try and paint Israel in a bad light no matter what the circumstances. I think that though we must battle this moral misconduct, Israel must realise that it is fighting a losing battle on this front and put its energies into winning the practical war against our neighbours.

4  |   dkline WV USA, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

Professor Dershowitz has called the spade a spade as he always is the master of precise language. Imad was not a member of the human race he was a giant Ebola virus on two legs. As for the death of a mad dog killer of innocent women and children and peacekeeping troops this was akin to using a disinfectant on a commode seat. As for him being a martyr that must stand for murder all religions taint yourn.

5  |   LARRY B., Sunday Feb 17, 2008

As a Jewish American who passionately win it- why can's Israel do the same ?

6  |   Larry B., Sunday Feb 17, 2008

Why hasn't Israel wiped out these terorist groups years ago. Forget about world opinion! Israel should have done to these Arab organizations what the US did to Japan in 1942. The funeral procession was a perfect target to wipe out the infrastructure. Why aren't the families of terrorists wiped out so that these terrorists know there will be price paid for their actions, even after their deaths ? I do not believe that this is too simplistic. Every other country fights a war to
win, why can't Israel ?

7  |   RG. USA., Sunday Feb 17, 2008

Nobody says it better then Mr. Dershowitz.

8  |   mickey-usa, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

i stand with israel my brothers and sisters.

9  |   Ruben Misrahi, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

Mr. Dershowitz, your comments are always logic, pointed and clear.

What we need to understand is what Kafkian drive makes the media see things otherwise.

10  |   thierry USA, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

How it is possible for Isrealis to live in peace with Iranian, Syrian and Palestinian terrorists raising and feeding their children with total hatred against Israel and Jews?
Israel already made peace with Egypt and Jordania, so it is possible to live in peace with more Arab countries.
There would be far less terrorist attacks against innocent Israeli civilians and Jews around the world if perpetrators would be received by the same means of violence they use: let's remember Yad Hazaka has to prevail where words and tolerance don't work.

11  |   Josh White, Sunday Feb 17, 2008

If you think this is bad, wait till Iran acquires nuclear weapons and hands them over to Hezbollah.

12  |   Pete Kusnick, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Don't make threats you can't back up.

13  |   Steve, L.A., Monday Feb 18, 2008

Now that Nasrallah has called for open war around the globe and announced to the world that he will kill Jews anywhere and at any time simply because they are Jews -- and that his stated goal is the physical elimination of Israel (genocide) -- any such attack will be an act of war by IRAN, Hezbollah's military, financial and religious sponsor.

Israel should let the world know that any such act of war by Iran will invite a response to it BY ANY MEANS and that this counter-attack will not cease until we know they will not acquire nuclear weapons... or have themselves ceased to exist.

14  |   Richard in Canada, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Speaking of double standards, Dershowitz forgets Israel's numerous war crimes that are never held to account. Nor are they accountable for the daily Palestinian death toll. And more to the point, Hezbollah is not a terrorist group, since they were formed to fight an illegal Israel occupation of southern Lebanon. Alan Dershowitz is a lawyer. His writings clearly demonstrate one-sided thinking that befits a courtroom attorney trying to convince the 'jury' or the readers of his propaganda. Look into Israeli war crimes, illegal occupations, and see the truth for yourself.

15  |   Jens, malmö, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Even should Hezbollah actually kill innocent israelis in the hundreds around the world, it will still not come near to genocide. And if it does constitute genocide, then what is israels killing of 1000 innocent lebanese men, women and children in the last war? Mega genocide? Mr. Dershowitz stop abusing the word of genocide for a couple of cheap points.

16  |   Daniel, Finland, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Sayyid Qutb, a muslim extremist, has taught:" Let us plant in the hearts and souls of our children the seeds of hatred, revenge and disgust....." Mr Nasrallah has learned it very well. There is no matter if a single jew has nothing to with the death of that murdere and terrorist the main thing is to kill the Jews. There is no moral, sense and logig in the way Nasrallah and terrorists are thinkig - that's why they are terrorists. Thank you Mr. Dershowitz. I admire your way of thinking in this article and in your books.

17  |   , Monday Feb 18, 2008

Richard
you are gravely misinformed..no other country in the world has ever valued innocent lives more than Israel

18  |   Michael, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Hizbullah's any excuse to target Israel.
These people are ignorant.
God wont allow his chosen people to be destroyed.
Syria more than likely killed him anyway.
Of course Israel gets the blame.
I am with Israel God bless his people.

19  |   Avi, NY, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Richard, it would be helpful if you would state factual specifics when raising claims of Israel's "war crimes" and "daily arab death toll." As you must realize, stating they exist, does not mean they exist.

Also, please let us know, assuming your your standard of legality relative to the formation of terrorist groups is accurate, would you classify the PLO as a terrorist group, being that it was formed pre-1967?

20  |   Jerry in Baltimore, Monday Feb 18, 2008

As a Christian, I say kudos to anyone who was behnd that muderers death. Again the world will point to Israel for anything from drought to nuclear war.

Stay strong! You've got a lot of people that are praying for your success.

21  |   Lawrence, Monday Feb 18, 2008

"Richard in Canada", read your histroy books before you embark on this Hezbollah-defense. "...the daily Palestinian death toll..." you blame Israel for obviously pays no mind to the moral obligation Israel both feels and fulfills by providing Gaza with electricity, gasoline, etc. I can hazard a pretty good guess as to how much of these goods and services the Jewish state would receive if the tables were turned.... Why no incictment of the Egyptian wall that prevents these poor people, used as Arab pawns against Israel for generations, from experiencing better living conditions?

22  |   Bill C United States, Monday Feb 18, 2008

If someone raises a fist to you and you do not take immediate action to protect yourself, you deserve the consequences of your inaction.

23  |   Pam, USA, Monday Feb 18, 2008

I stand with Israel and always will! Every nation must stop these terrorist groups who stand for nothing but hatred. They use religion to rile up people, but it's the exact opposite they stand for. They stand for power and hatred and always have.

Genesis 16:12
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

25  |   NATHAN WEISS, Monday Feb 18, 2008

as AN AMERICAN DISABLED VETERAN MY SINCERE BEILIEF IS THAT iSRAEL SHOULD TAKE BACK ALL THE HISBULA TERITORY THAT WAS GIVEN UP THAN THE RACKETS WILL STOP

26  |   Markus-New York, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Alan Dershowitz is a true and effective Israeli spokesman. I wish the Palestinians would find one like him to promote their just cause

27  |   Andy in Chicago, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Thanks for Speaking up Richard-- .

Perhaps a bit more thought is needed on your behalf regarding the very issues you raise
1- Why are Paestinians dying in Gaza? Could it be perhaps becasue Israel would prefer the almost daily rocket attacks from that FORMERLY occupied area?
2- Are terrorist groups defined by why they form, or their actions? In any event, by your thinking, Hezbollah would no longer need to kidnap Israeli soldiers or lob rockets into Norhtern Israel, as Israel is completely out of Lebanon as certified by the UN.

Congrats on being wrong across the board.

28  |   john carey philly,pa, Monday Feb 18, 2008

if you think israel can delay military action your sadly mistaken.when the charlatan obama takes office in january, israel will mbe on her own,so you better hit iran before this guy takes office.

29  |   Benjamin Chaim; New York, Monday Feb 18, 2008

It's time to hit our ememies hard. In my view, I find it interesting to outline the similiarities between Iran today and Persia of yore. Both had plans and intent to destroy Israel and annihilate the Jewish race. Purim is right around the corner. We need a Mordichi to deal with these modern day Haymens(NOISE)!!! Get them before they get us. Baruch Ashem!

30  |   Jack in Canada, Monday Feb 18, 2008

My eyes are wide open and what I see are Palestinians/Transjordanians, Lebanese, Syrians and persians/Iranians and their various terrorist/militant/martyr/fighter groups all dedicated to delegitimizing Israel's existence and enjoining its children to destroy Israel. Were it not essentially (not perfectly) a moral nation, Israel would have surely rid=sterilized itself of its enemies long ago.
Did you attend Israel Apartheid Week in Toronto, Richard? If so, I am sure you can magnificently opine on "propaganda"!

31  |   Chris, OH USA, Monday Feb 18, 2008

Why are you surprised that the mainstream media are agains Israel? They have always been so. When are American Jews going to realize that liberals are not your friends? Do you want a strong Israel? Vote conservative and you will empower friends of Israel, generally speaking.

32  |   MZ from PA, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Would that coward Nassrahlla ok orders to kill innocent Jews around the world? Let him come out of his cave and show his followers what a martyr he is instead of sending innocent women and children to undertake his mission in life (misery to all arab and jews). The mighty nation of Israel will survive as it has for over two thousand years.

33  |   Steve, Utah, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

To Richard in Canada: Go back to your nice comfortable home in Canada and watch the news on the TV. You don't have to worry about terrorists next door. Your selfish attitude reveals the emptiness of your heart and existence. You should feel lucky you don't have your neighbors lobbing rockets & RPG's in the direction of your TV antenna. If you would read Dershowitz you would get an education on the legality of Israeli actions in Palestine. Why don't you try living in Iran or Syria--I'm sure you would be welcomed in those countries!

34  |   John, Canada, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Oh Richard, what fantasy! The "daily" Palestinian death toll? Much of Palestinian culture is committed to sacrificial violence. They bring up their people to be "martyrs" and victims. It's what holds them together: hatred of Israel and love of Jihad. And they're proud of it. Israel is not forceful enough in defense of its existence. And people like you, always playing the blame game, building the international forces of guilt blackmail, are responsible for Israel not acting strongly to end the interminable low-level violence. White Guilt kills, whether in Canada, Germany, or Israel.

35  |   A. Da Guia Canada, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Richard #14 - you are really a filthy anti-Semite (probably an Arab living in Montreal using a name such as Richard to disguise yourself). Hezbollah was, is and will always be a bunch of terrorist thugs and Nasrallah will soon get a chance to meet his virgins if he keeps his rhetoric up and Israel finally gets fed up with his pathetic act.

Your opinion will always be a minority opinion because any sane person knows that Dershowitz is right and your statements are nothing short of pathetic and false...

36  |   Brian (Coventry RI), Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

As we approuch Jewish Unity in March 2008 let us remember that our strength is in our knowledge. We live for truth. We stand for good. We will not be brought down again.

37  |   Peter United States, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Richard from Canada's comments are pathetic.

Hezbollah is a terrorist organization.

38  |   Dave in Chicago, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

"Richard in Canada" is an idiot. People like him are part of the problem. If he is convinced that Israel committed "war crimes" he would have to accept the notion that Canadian and American soldiers illegally occupied Nazi Germany. Richard, if you are Jewish you are at the same level as a concentration camp kappo. Regardless, you are the war criminal for expressing any support for Hezbollah.

39  |   Charles Wisconsin, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

We must ask ourselves whether the Left would support Israel to the same extent as have the Republicans.

40  |   David in Chicago, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Richard in Canada, you are an idiot. Get off prozac, and you may see things a little more clearer.

41  |   bobway, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

What is never mentioned about the Mideast
Conflict is the fact that you will never see
a Gay Parade in an Arab County yet they
have them in Tel Aviv. Until the Arabs and
especially the Palestians renounce their
homophobic ways they don't deserve
compassion.

42  |   kendra, nashville, usa, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

I wonder how Dershowitz feels now that his only supporters are conservatives and the liberals hold him in disdain.

Don't get me wrong: I completely respect Dershowitz for taking the stand he has taken, regarding fighting the Harvard nutcases and speaking out in loud, logical support for Israel. He is one of the only liberals I've seen or read that understand that there are good guys and bad guys, understand who is who, and understand that the good guys hold the moral highground. He is the only liberal that seems to have a moral compass.

43  |   Neil, Canada, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Richard (#14), where do you get your FACTS from? Is todays Hezbolla actions of unwaranted bombings of civillians truthful?

44  |   Stu in Talkeetna, Alaska, Tuesday Feb 19, 2008

Thank our G-d for the clarity and elocution of Professor Dershowitz. All though people like Dick in Canada willfully distort the facts "on the ground" to further their Jew hating adjenda, Mr. Alan Dershowitz also suffers from crainial rectal inversion when it comes to his non Israeli political philosophy!
Most folks who support the right of Israel and the Jews of the world to live in peace and harmony with their neighbors tend to be Conservative in out look. Professor Dershowitz, however, runs with the ideological left in most matters. Too bad, so sad Alan.

45  |   Richard in Canada, Wednesday Feb 20, 2008

to 27: If you think Israel is out of Lebanon, you are more deluded than I thought possible. They still occupy Lebanese farms. and fund opposition groups in Lebanon.
On the subject of war crimes, the Lebanon war in 2006 wasn't started by Hezbollah. Hezbollah kidnapped the soldiers AFTER Israel kidnapped two Palestinians. When Hezbollah reciprocated, Israel started illegally bombing south Lebanon. A war crime. Another was the illegal bombing of a site in Syria. How many Palestinians are in Israeli jails, who have never had a trial? THOUSANDS. What a great democracy you have. NOT!

46  |   Moni from Canada, Thursday Feb 21, 2008

These are all signs of the times leading up to Armagedden...the final battle. The prophets Ezekial and Isaiah give a description of this devestating end time battle and that Egypt, Israel and Syria will be in battle against those who would come against Israel and the Jews. From the very beginning Israel has and always will be the "apple of Gods' eye and those opposed will be brought to utter destruction.Fear not what mere man can do to you.Fear rather the God of Israel and what He will do in the coming days.He will not sit in silence and watch his people be destroyed.

Dav Lev: I am an Independed and voted for John McCain. I saw through the do-nothing President and his outrageous promises to CHANGE everything, from the grassroots. That approach got him the teenage vote and the votes of fanciful minorities who believe in Takkun Olam..heal the world and treat their maladies..before your own. He didn't disappoint me..nothing he had proposed has come to fruition..AND he has flip flopped..Iraq, Afghanistan, labor, world trade, gays in the military, etc. He has the majorities in Congress...so what? It's about deeds, not teleprompter words. In 2010, vote them out.
Dav Lev: Charlie Rose keeps on repeating the same old, tired line, that we have been engaged in the worst foreign debacle ever. He does this in the way he interviews his guests. He is watched by millions on PBS. He also appears occasionally on CBS. From time to time, he suggests that those involved in making legitimate actions which might be construed as torture, or those people who promoted the Iraqi invasion..be tried, be held accountable. I say, hows about prosecuting the people per this article..in intelligence. I mean their lies could have resulted in a nuclear exchange.
EW, Baltimore , MD: To Said # 1 My dear Said. You have insulted the honor & integrity of SS, Waffen-SS & National-Socialist Party by suggesting that Jews & half Jews were among their "highest officers". It is the worse accusation one can make . It is no excuse that You confused a dozen or so ordinary Wermacht soldiers {eventually discharged } , partly Jews , with Brigadenfuerers SS { one star general egiivalent} & higher with Wermacht soldiers . Be aware their ghosts may avenge on You! For this statement they will never forgive You. The certificate signed by a psychiatrist is not defence.
