The Art of Negotiation

This isn't an attack on the Government, may our leaders all live long and prosperous lives in the service of their country and not the service of themselves.

The art of negotiation,  or the art of getting what you want, is a skill that has been perfected over many years by business gurus, but has yet to take into account what I call the 'princess factor.'

The 'princess factor' also called by some 'my little prince factor,' is a skillful and uncompromising, almost savage, negotiation technique between two hardened parties - you on the one side and your kids on the other.

The G8 in its trade negotiations uses it all the time. One side has a little tantrum and the other side gives in. The government makes endless use of this tactic, releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from its very effective prison system, by giving in to every demand even when there is only the slightest hint or threat of a tantrum.

The Carousel of life

Godzilla eyed me suspiciously as I waited by the luggage carousel in Ben Gurion's Terminal 1 arrivals halls. After a few days in Eilat, I was relaxed and contented, but in an instant that changed. The kids were tired, our luggage was bound by the laws of Sod (or Murphy)  to be last and to make matters worse I had Godzilla standing next to me, arms out by her side to make sure no one encroached on her four meter fly zone. She had marked her territory and although you could have parked 3 trolleys next to her, no one dared.

Godzilla, stood, dragon-eyed by the luggage carousel wearing a large green poncho, flared green trousers and a red T-shirt. Oh, and she had a green and red hair band. She was, in the opinion of this beholder, ugly as sin, scary as Freddy Kruger and she frankly unnerved everybody within a very wide radius. I decided that as the hall was packed it would be my duty on behalf of the other Arkia and Israair customers to ask her if she wouldnÂ’t mind moving a few centimeters so I could get closer (on a temporary basis) to grab my luggage.

Rosanna UK: Considering Journalists are not allowed in Gaza we seem to be getting plenty one-sided propaganda from the pro- Palestinian journalists who are in Gaza, note the BBC. War brings suffering to both sides (Israel's is ignored!) The responsibility for that in Gaza falls squarely at the feet of Hamas and their perverse left-wing supporters. No wonder they throw away their shoes! The amount of weaponery and bombs amassed by Hamas thru the tunnels is enormous, they have been preparing for war over a long period of time, they don't give a damn about their own who are but human shields to them!
Tim, Far East: "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." Diaspora Jews will one day hear the voice of the Shepherd and realise that their host countries are merely guardians and that their real destiny lies in Israel. Of course, anyone is free to reject Mashiach's voice at the appointed time, and even those in Israel shall be held accountable for their own decisions when YHWH comes. Be that as it may, nobody should support Israel blindly. When Israel forgets itself amidst the nations and acts against Torah, then then must be reminded, but this war is clearly self-defence against violent terrorists.
Mark: Melissa 120, if there's any gray area on this issue it's in your eyes. Mick 119 is correct and all free nations [West or East] are in peril, so be " loyal" to that if it eases your nerves....Israel is only one of many future targets...
